Get away from pathetic Gate way ! I was not looking at the ratings (i regret) and just stopped as looking where to eat other than at my favourite restaurant nearby. Gateway has great location, thatswhy i liked it and order food. Surprisingly with this location they could be the best restaurant in town, service is very fast and good… but that is what they focus on only, instead of quality of food. I ordered Navratna korma and already from the time of preparation (5 min??? 😮) and bare looking at it i realized this can’t be real deal but mere substite to shamelessly make money on tourisrs. No keshu, no real cream, no taste at all not even tiny sweet not even slightly salty, it was not cooked together so no taste at all. The cook just throwned cheap ingredience (water precooked lame veg) apple and paneer, some chemical substitute of cream…result absolutely pathetic . Because i have appointment and did not eat anything lunch yet i asked for change : dahl palak. Nothing special, i asked mild spice, it was not even light spicy. I dont know what is the policy of this place. It is shame… for location just next to the citypalace. The surfacial look is clean snd elegant so people come, look at the relatively high prices and think: hmmmm this must be good quality. Then the manager just throw at your face when you complain that he travelled Europe? Wait what??? As response to his arogance i should just get away without paying…. But i was too nice unfortunately. They will never change, do not go there and waste your money there. Go to Millets. Gateway, please step up so tourist travelling so far can have some pleasant cullinary experience, because this is just sad. Otherwise i recommend to make a slight change in the name: Getaway or even better : Get lost! Thats how you treat...
Read moreIt is very costly. Food is decent but not any great. The worst part is staff is very arrogant. If you are Indian, you need to write down your order by your hand.(he told me that they take order from foreigners to avoid any communication gap) They get food to the table but do not serve. All the waiters were sitting idle. I asked them is it self service? The manager told yes. I asked them then why don't you write down. Answer: we are like this only. We will not give any special services to you. Whatever we offer to others, we will give that much only. Fare enough argymnet but not fare in service industry. No fingerbowl after lunch. You have to come down one floor to wash your hands. This is fisrt time in India where I ordered Punjabi food and fingerbowl is not served. I asked them why the hell you charge restaurants rate when you do not serve and not mention that it is self service. He asked me to read the rules in menu card. At back side it is mentioned that do not argue with the staff for rates. I was not interested in arguing for rates though. I observed many people were leaving without ordering. When I told manger that I will write detaed negative review..he said " go ahead and do so. I don't care". I have never seen such arraogancy in hotel industry in last 20 years. Just there is no other restaurant near palace, all the staff have become very rude and arraogant. So avoid this place unless really necessary...
Read moreThe restaurant is overlooking the street leading up to the iconic City Palace of Udaipur. It has comfy chairs and large tables scattered across, with a few plants that add to the beauty of the place. The place seemed hygienic. The service staff is well trained and the food arrived on our table in a short amount of time. Their menu has a lot of options to choose from various cuisines and one would definitely find something to eat that they like on it. We had the following here : Malai Kofta - Firstly, the quantity of this dish was just great. It was more than enough for two of us. With two big delicious koftas as the highlight and the scrumptious cashew and cream based gravy, this was very satisfying. We would highly recommend this one for those who don't like to eat spicy food..😁 Blue Angel Mocktail - A refreshing mocktail that looked so beautiful with its different hues of blue and yellow. It had a pretty obvious citrusy taste to it, which we...
