One of the famous places to visit in Udaipur, Bagore Ki Haveli is a haveli that stands magnificently on the waterfront of the surreal Lake Pichola at Gangori Ghat. Built in the 18th century by Amar Chand Badwa, the then Prime minister of Mewar kingdom, Bagore Ki Haveli has been restored over the period of time and is now converted into a museum. Shri Amarchand Badwa, who served as the Prime minister of Mewar kingdom during the reign of Maharanas Pratap Singh II, Raj Singh II, Ari Singh, and Hamir Singh from the period of 1751 to 1778, built Bagore Ki Haveli. Following the death of Amarchand Badwa, the haveli came under the possession of Mewar royal family and became the abode of Nath Singh, a relative of the then Maharana. In 1878, Maharaj Shakti Singh of Bagore further extended the haveli by building the triple-arched gateway and since then it is known as Bagore ki Haveli. Till 1947, the haveli remained in the possession of Mewar state. Post India’s Independence, the Haveli was used by the Rajasthan government for housing government employees. The haveli was neglected for almost forty years and later in 1986, the Government eventually decided to handover the restoration work to the West Zone Cultural Centre. Any art lover would love to explore the Bagore ki Haveli for its splendid architecture and skillful craftsmanship. Reflecting the Mewar’s aristocratic culture, Bagore ki Haveli is a marvellous assortment of huge courtyards, balconies, jharokhas, decorative archways, cupolas and a fountain. With around 138 rooms, the interiors of the Haveli are decorated with exceptional mirror work. The walls of the Haveli are adorned beautifully with alluring glasswork and mural paintings. One can see various rooms used by the royal family that are worth admiring for its finest craftsmanship.

The haveli, which is located on the banks of Lake Pichola, is a stunning architectural marvel that has been well-preserved and maintained over the years. The museum inside the haveli is a treasure trove of cultural artifacts and exhibits that provide a fascinating glimpse into the rich history and heritage of Udaipur. The displays are well-organized and informative, and the audio guide is a great addition that enhances the overall experience. But what truly sets Bagore ki Haveli apart is its live cultural performances that take place in the evening. If you are in Udaipur and you don't see the cultural program at Bagore ki Haveli, your Udaipur trip is incomplete! It's a MUST! Get a ticket in advance, probably online, or go and grab the ticket at 5pm or though the hotel you are staying. Everyday the show runs 7-8pm and sometimes an extra one 8-9pm if peak season. It's group of traditional folk artists, who performs songs and showcase some beautiful provincial dances from different parts of Rajasthan. It filled our heart with joy and pride that we belong to the same motherland where such artists are born!😊 Kudos to them, generally in maximum cases these practices are age old tradition, they carry forward the art and culture generation by generation. But slowly these days the youngsters are looking for alternatives so it's getting difficult to keep the tradition alive. Government / NGO, should come forward with many more platforms, let the technology help them, showcases their talent to every nook and corner of the world! Pls attend the cultural event. It's once in a lifetime memory. Well managed place. Restroom facilities are there.

The West Zone Cultural Centre planned to renovate the haveli into a museum. Originally, the idea was to represent the culture of Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat and Rajasthan, the West Zone States, in the proposed museum. However, seeing that the Haveli was an architectural museum by itself, owing to typical and charming architectural style, it was decided that it would be preserved as a museum of Mewar's aristocratic culture. Glass window at Bagore-ki-Haveli To provide the same royal look, experts and members of the royal family were consulted. The Haveli was restored primarily using local and traditional skills and materials including lakhori bricks and lime mortar. Several murals done in araish in the 18th and 19th century were uncovered, and many doors, windows and perforated screens were repaired or replaced. Bagore-ki-Haveli is a haveli in Udaipur in Rajasthan state in India. It is right on the waterfront of Lake Pichola at Gangori Ghat. Amar Chand Badwa, the Prime Minister of Mewar, built it in the eighteenth century.
