Delicious Dining Experience at Buhari Mount Road
Buhari Mount Road, located in Anna Salai, Triplicane, is a must-visit restaurant, especially for briyani lovers like myself. Established in 1951, this restaurant exudes a vintage charm that enhances its unique character. The recent renovation has elevated its ambiance, creating a visually appealing dining space that is clean and serene, though the cleanliness of the toilets could use some improvement.
The food is absolutely delicious! The Mutton Biryani and Chicken Biryani are standout dishes that I wholeheartedly recommend, and the Chicken 65—known as the dish invented here, which has become famous worldwide—lives up to its legendary status. I was thrilled to finally try the Chicken 65, and it did not disappoint.
Here’s what we ordered:
Mutton Biryani: Incredible flavor—definitely a 10/10. Chicken Biryani: Equally delicious and flavorful—9/10. Cheese Naan: A delightful addition that complemented the curries well—8/10. Chicken 65: Fantastic taste—10/10.
As a nice touch, we were welcomed with a refreshing drink that added to the pleasant atmosphere. The service was fast, and the waiters were respectful and friendly, contributing to a positive dining experience.
While the food is flavorful, it’s worth noting that the portion sizes are disappointingly small, especially given the steep prices. This could make Buhari more suitable for special occasions rather than regular dining.
Despite these drawbacks, the overall experience was enjoyable. The Mughal by Buhari offers a flavorful journey, with standout dishes like the signature chicken curry and Kashmiri chicken, all accompanied by their irresistible wheat parathas. And who could resist their famous pudding-like tea, a perfect sweet ending to a culinary adventure?
For convenience, I recommend arriving by auto, booking via Ola or Uber, especially for non-Indian visitors. Overall, Buhari Mount Road is a place that should be on every food lover’s list when visiting Chennai. I highly recommend trying their Bun Butter Jam and Tea, and the Smoothie Wheat Barotta Chicken Gravy Combo is also a must. I will definitely be returning for another...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Bhuhari Anna Salai, and it was an absolute delight! The star of the show was undoubtedly the biryani, an exquisite dish that left me craving for more. Every bite was a burst of flavors that justified every penny spent. The Paya was a treat for the taste buds, and the chapathi was flawlessly executed.
My visit happened late at night, around 11:30pm, and despite the hour, the restaurant offered a commendable selection. I decided to try their biryani, parotta, and chapathi, and I was not disappointed. The panner butter masala and butter chicken were undeniably the highlights of the meal, leaving me practically licking my fingers.
However, it's important to note that dining at Bhuhari Anna Salai might not be feasible for everyone due to the relatively higher prices. But the quality of the dishes and the overall ambiance truly make it a worthwhile indulgence for special occasions.
The restaurant's exterior is a sight to behold, drawing you in with its captivating design. The interior ambiance complements the experience perfectly, making it a complete sensory delight.
One small drawback is the limited parking space available. While the restaurant's eye-catching appeal might attract a lot of diners, finding a parking spot could be a challenge. On occasion, you might find yourself circling around to find a suitable place to park.
In conclusion, Bhuhari Anna Salai is a culinary gem that offers a delectable journey for your taste buds. Despite the higher prices and parking constraints, the outstanding flavors and inviting ambiance make it a must-visit for those special moments when you're seeking a memorable...
Read moreI recently had a very disappointing experience at Buhari Restaurant on Mount Road, which is supposedly one of the best in Chennai. I’ve tried many well-known restaurants and roadside food stalls, but I’ve never had such a bad experience.
We arrived at the restaurant around 12:15 PM for lunch. At that time, it wasn’t very crowded, and we placed our order. The first dish was mancho soup, which resembled curry more than a soup. The fried noodles served with it smelled excessively oily.
Next, after a half-hour wait, our starters and main course arrived. The chicken malai kabab was tasteless, with only a layer of cream on top and green chutney on the side. The curd served with it tasted spoiled. The ghee rice was cold when it was served. When we asked for it to be reheated, the staff claimed it was warm, though it was clearly not. After another 10 minutes, they served rice which wo not not but warm this time..
We were then informed that mutton rogan josh was unavailable, and were offered mutton masala instead. We should have left then, but decided to stay. This turned out to be a mistake. When the mutton masala arrived after a 10-15 minute wait, it was very cold, and the naan was also cold. We requested that the food be reheated, but the mutton gravy was still poorly seasoned, with excessive salt, and the naan was burnt black. The server explained that it was due to being heated on the sides of the oven as we have not tried naan before, Here's a refined version of that thought:
"It takes years to build a reputation, but only a moment...
