It is located in a narrcw street opposite Devi theatre's backside entrance. We can reach there by a two-wheeler or by walk Ordered the usual popular stuff: Samosa, Kachodi, Jalebi. Gulab Jamun. Basandi and Lassi. Samosa and Kachori gets sold once they are cut of the oil. Tasty, crispy and fresh as usual. The Kachori sold here has lesser stuffings inside compared to the ones we get in Mint street. Very gccd though. Jalebi tco is served hot and was crispy. Didn't get the usual sour taste in it like in many other outlets. Basandi was rich and creamy. Superb. Gulab Jamun was soft and soaked perfectly in the syrup. Tasted very gocd. The sweets tasted very original and home-made, as usual. Finally the lassi. Sheer wonder. Thick, sweet, creamyy and topped with Koya and Sugar. People can try this original drink instead of the artificial thick shakes served. across the city. The snacks are served in 'Mandharai leaf' which is adding flavour. We could feel that strong added flavcur when we take parcels. Hygienic and ecc- friendly! The place is always crowded and they keep on preparing the snacks as and when they get sold out. So the snacks are always served hot. Overall a very good experience at pccket-friendly prices.

Bombay Lassi Stall – Royapettah, Chennai: A Hidden Gem for Authentic North Indian Snacks

Tucked away in one of the narrow streets of Royapettah, Bombay Lassi Stall is a modest, medium-sized self-service eatery that delivers big on authentic taste. Known for its simple yet flavorful offerings, this place has garnered a loyal following over the years, especially for its samosas, kachodis, and of course, its namesake lassi.

Ambience & Accessibility

The stall operates out of a small shop inside a street that is only accessible by two-wheelers or on foot, adding a bit of a "hidden gem" charm to the experience. There’s no seating available, and everything is served at the counter — quick, no-frills, and self-service. It's the kind of spot that thrives on local love rather than fancy decor.

Menu & Taste

The menu is refreshingly simple with a handful of items — but each one is done well. I tried their kachodi and lassi, and both lived up to their reputation. The kachodi was crisp and spiced just right, with a satisfying texture that makes you want to go for a second. The lassi was subtle, not too sweet, and had a comforting homemade quality to it.

They also serve a selection of traditional Indian sweets like jalebi, rabadi, and gulab jamun. I picked up a jalebi parcel, and even after some time, the sweetness and crunch held up — a good sign of quality.

Service & Payment

This is strictly a self-service joint. You place your order, pick it up at the counter, and enjoy your food on the go or standing outside. One important thing to note: they only accept cash — so plan accordingly before heading there.

Final Thoughts

If you're in or around Royapettah and in the mood for classic North Indian snacks, Bombay Lassi Stall is well worth a visit. It’s not about luxury or variety here — it’s about honest, authentic flavors served fresh in a nostalgic street-side setting.

Highlights:

Authentic taste, especially samosas, kachodis, and lassi

Quick self-service model

Great value for money

Must-try: Kachodi, lassi, and jalebi

Things to Note:

No digital payment options — cash only

No seating; self-service only
