Chin Chin — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

I took my elderly parents for dinner on 10th June to Chin chin because we’ve always enjoyed the food there. We placed our order and after more than half an hour they brought us the 2 main dishes which were to go with the rice we ordered and expected us to eat that off the quarter plates. We told then to take it back and bring it with the rice. The dumpling which is the starter came after that! Then more than an hour later we were still sitting and waiting for our food. We asked the girl and she said 2 minutes after which another 10 minutes passed. We finally told her to just get the main dishes they tried to get us to have as starters and just had that and left hungry. My parents are 80+ and had to sit and wait for almost 1 1/2 hours and then go hungry. After we asked for the bill the manager comes and asks us if he can get us something else. Their excuse was the black rice was taking time. If they know it’s going to take time they should have informed us when we ordered it that it would take more than 2 hrs to prepare. We obviously looked like people who wouldn’t know what we ordered when they tried to palm of the main course to be eaten with the rice as starters. Whatever food we did have was good that’s why the 5 star rating for the food. The staff, though pleasant, was very unprofessional and with a don’t care attitude. We placed a straightforward order for Phuket Fish, Chinese Chilli Chicken, and Spicy Udon Noodles.

The Phuket Fish was the only saving grace, as it tasted quite good. However, the Udon Noodles, which was mentioned as "Spicy" was nowhere close to being spicy. It was completely bland. To make matters worse, the Chinese Chilli Chicken didn't appear on our table until we had to flag down the waiter. Much to our astonishment, he had the audacity to claim that we never ordered it, even though he was the one who suggested it in the first place.

Despite the initial mix-up, we requested the Chilli Chicken dish anyway. What we received was far from what we expected. The dish was neither warm nor semi-gravy as we had specified. The chicken was cold, and the overall taste was unappetising.

I would caution others to think twice before dining at this establishment, as it fell far short of our expectations for the money charged. It was expensive and so...

We had ordered 3 main course items and only one out of them was served. The worst part, is that we were waiting for the others to be served but, why care to notify! We had to ask and then we were told that the other two man courses were not available.

Final worst was left for the dessert, 3 desserts and one out of them was a ball shaped sweet item, it was not only shaped, looked like, they served a cricket ball itself. The knife didn't cut it, so i used my hands and then I felt it, the cork ball that was served to us. I don't know what was the dish that could be so so so hard.
