Well, The Pavilion could be one of the best Buffet restaurant situated at one of the oldest and a great hotel, but my experience was one of the worst ever in an hospitality outlet. I think the management has to realise that having a wonderful property is not being hospitable but having courteous people is being hospitable. We were having a business event at the property and before the event we had to have a team meeting. we walked in to the small pastry shop but were directed to go to The Pavilion as seats were not available at the pastry shop. Once we entered the restaurant, a lady host guided us to a table. Once seated, one steward, Mr Vinoth, walked up to us and started telling us in a very irritated tone that you cannot sit here and we will not serve anything. When informed that we were directed by the Pastry Shop staff, he started abusing us verbally. It was astonishing to see, how abusive a staff working in a fine dining restaurant can be. Anyway, we walked out with a resolve to never again set foot in the Restaurant and pray that a property where I have been staying for decades realises that there are other options too in...
Read moreI went with my family of 10 for dinner on 9th Aug 2022. I had to follow up several times with live-counter orders. As I received them, I felt I would have been better off without having them. Dosa (was white), pizza and egg appam (sweet) were pathetic. Flies were all over the fruit salad. I didn't expect this when they charge Rs.1500 for a buffet.
Definitely the restaurant is not as good as it was before. Disappointed.
I wanted to try a buffet that isn't barbecue. But the barbecue buffet felt much better than the pavilion's dinner buffet. In short, it is not for foodies anymore.
Strangely, I saw a note that Service charge was optional. I thought it was mean not to pay service charge and why would the restaurant forego it. But the dinner experience cleared that out. Many would have complained about the pathetic service and would have opted out.
The restaurant would be better off taking a service change but provide decent service than making...
Read moreWe visited Pavilion to experience their lunch buffet on a weekday and i feel this is only good for business visits and people who love ambience more than food. Foodies might get disappointed and the reason could be due to the price they charge. For lunch buffet they charge 1600 GST inclusive and what they offer does not justify. They do have varieties for Main course n dessert items but you may get disappointed with starters. They could have offered at least fish or prawn starters/veg starters.

Starters :- Malai chicken Mutton chettinadu semi dry.
