We had a very poor experience at Nitya Amirtham Hotel. I strongly advise people not to order the “Special Meals” which costs ₹250 + tax. The service was not at all satisfactory.
Soup Quality The waiter promised that special meals would include soup, banana, unlimited rice, chappati, and more. But what we got was shocking. The soup was served in a small steel chutney cup, along with the thali. It was hard to even identify it as soup. It tasted very bad. It was heavily salted and peppered, like cheap roadside soup. Normally, soup is served plain so the diner can adjust taste. That was not the case here.
Rice Serving We had ordered three special meals. When we asked for extra rice, the waiter brought only one small bowl for all of us. He dropped a little rice and tried to take the bowl away. We had to insist to keep it on the table. After that, even when we called him several times, he ignored us. It felt like they were not willing to serve more rice even if that is included in the special meals.
Half-hearted serving of Extra Dishes Extra rice should come with extra servings of dishes like rasam or sambar. But here, they simply gave rice and walked away. Only once, the waiter served the dishes. When we asked again for other members, he ignored us. Another waiter also did the same. With wet hands, we waited nearly 5 minutes for someone to serve dishes with rice. No one came. Only when we complained to the supervisor, he scolded the staff and served the dishes himself.
Raw Banana After meals, a banana was served. It was unripe and not edible at all. We asked for a better one, but the waiter said “all are like this only.” We had to take it home and eat it after two days.
Suspicious Cleaning Practice Many dishes were either average or tasted bad. We had to leave them in their cups. Later, we noticed the cleaner picking up each cup and arranging them neatly on a plate, like a thali, and taking them away. This is something I have never seen in any hotel.
It raises serious doubts:
Are leftover items reused? Are they given to ashrams? Are they eaten by staff?
This creates more suspicion than answers.
Overall Experience The behavior of all waiters was strange. They ignored basic requests. This does not seem like personal attitude. It looks like staff have been instructed to behave this way by management. When I raised this with the supervisor, he denied it and apologized.
But the truth is clear: They serve properly only if you complain. You do not get what you are promised unless you repeatedly ask. Do not be fooled by the crowd or fancy interiors.
My Advice Avoid this hotel. You deserve better service and better food...
Read moreI visited dis restaurant around 20 days ago during my visit to kanchi.. I also tasted food in other nearby restaurants, which r up to d expectation.
V hav seen many, serve urself hotels.. but dis s kinda cook urself restaurant 😅
V had ordered hot n sour soup, which was just spicy water with some veggies.. lemon, salt v had to add ourselves to make it edible..
Nxt v had ordered, baby corn and som other starter.. to our surprise, it was neither manchurian nor crispy.. it was just baby corn bonda.. (corn dipped in batter and fried, have shared photos for reference)
Nxt for our main course v had ordered veg fried rice and pulav.. both looked and tasted d same.. with bland taste.. as I said earlier, v made it edible using pepper powder, salt, and onions..
For our complaints also there were no convincing apologies.. they behave like, who cares.. as there r fewer restaurants around, ppl will come anyway..
Moreover, this restaurant was referred by d receptionist, where v stayed.. means these ppl have good marketing.. I also had seen good Google reviews, maybe south Indian food would have been better, as v have ordered North Indian food here.. But that can not be an excuse. If they have displayed d food, they must serve it in an acceptable way.. I also visited A2B and Sharavana bhavan nearby, although they don't have many varieties to choose.. they serve South Indian food better..
They also had economic dispenser for somp (fennel seeds), which were just sufficient for one person, and difficult to get out of d box (worst cost cutting strategy)
One star was to d good rose milk they supplied. Otherwise, it doesn't worth that too..
Take home msg, " Don't ordered North Indian food in dis restaurant," and no comments on South Indian food, as I had...
