Sri Annapoorna Bhavan — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

Visited here during lunch time. Paid 100Rs per person for unlimited meals. We were told it's entirely an unlimited meal meaning all the items are unlimited that's what we were literally told while entering.

We were greeted by dirty tables with flies on them and everywhere, and nobody bothered to clean the table atleast. And stern looks on the faces of the serving staff were like we have arrived to eat here for free. After making multiple requests for hot water we were served boiling water and on asking for a glass and normal water to mix it the faces got more stern.

On asking for an extra papad they just shook their hands and signalled extra papad is paid... On asking for buttermilk in a glass again the server shook his hand saying no... Uncle... You could have spoken and been nice atleast...

So we realised that the concept of unlimited meals is just a sham and a scam to pull the crowd.

The server sat next to our table and was literally staring at us the whole time we were eating...

This made us uncomfortable and we had to get up from the table ASAP.

We wanted to take parcel to one of our friends who was at the room but we dropped that idea after such a bad experience...

Would never come back to...

Very good location. Right next to Kamakshi’s Amman temple . Just outside the temple . I typically like Mess food than big hotels . This one was perfect for me .. though the ambience was average , this is what you get in a mess and I didn’t have any problem with it . Service was super duper .. one guy was just next to us and kept getting food / water etc . Good seating inside . A very old building and it looked like going to my paatis house and eating. Quantities of some items were really small - eg pongal , vadai etc

Food was very good. Kanchipuram idli was a little bit hard .. wish it was more soft . I liked the taste though. Dosa was perfect . Onion Oothappam was good. Poori was good but the masala could have been better . Pongal was perfect for an early morning breakfast . Eating with vadai was really perfect . Sambar , chutneys were good too. Parking is a nightmare here .. had to park 5-8 mins away and walk .. thought of giving a 5 star but I would be fair and give it a 4...

The hotel is decent, but do not take the autos suggested by the owner. We took an auto suggested by him and he told those are temple autos. We asked that auto man to drop at Babu sah shop which is approximately 1 km away. He asked 50 rupees for which we eventually agreed. He took us in a different route which was long and dropped at a newly constructed shop and said that it was Babu sah. I got doubt and asked the auto driver that why that shop doesn’t have name.. for which he replied that it was showroom . We dropped off and I again asked the shop salesman the name of the shop. He didn’t say the shop name and asked in return to which shop we came. And later after some discussion told some different shop name. We did not enter that shop and got saved and later had to walk to Babu sah following the directions of flexis put up by the shop. Please be careful with autos in Kanchi, better take your own vehicle to Kanchi if you are going...
