Not sure what the hype about the food is.
This place is really good one for some social meetup. Menu looked interesting, with limited (in a good way) items. But the food taste was lackluster. 4 to 5 cars can be parked by yourself. And another 3 can be accommodated by a valet available there. Quiet a lot of 2 wheeler parking available.
Ambience is quite nice. No irritatingly loud music (infact no music, a great plus), tables spaced adequately far. You'll not get too much privacy but the chatter from neighbouring table won't be a big bother. Comfortably air conditioned place with quiet airy feel due to double height roof. 5/5 for atmosphere.
Service was excellent. Quick to take order, and not pushy to serve us and kick us out. Timely serving the food (not too quick, not too slow). 5/5 for service as well.
Now, coming to the food, this is where Writer's Cafe disappointed us. We ordered main course, drinks and desserts. Flammkuchen / Pizza (tricolor veg - tomato, pesto & bell peppers and cheese) had tomato slices half cooked. Definitely edible but the hybrid indian tomato was just blant. Pesto lacked flavour. Bread was good though. Conversely, the filling in Veg Panini was good but the bread was a bit dry and felt old. Crispy chicken was just KFC rip-off poorly made, really bad chicken quality. And fried chicken boom burger was just the same KFC style chicken in bun with lettuce and the most lame mayo I have ever had. I took additional garlic may dip for crispy chicken appetizer which was again disappointing.
Drinks were just okay. Ordered cafe mocha, cappuccino and blueberry froyo. Cappuccino and cafe mocha were just regular old coffee with milk froth. Froth makes it very presentable and fancy to look at. But you take a sip and beneath you'll just get a regular ultra-mild coffee. I'm not expecting strong Madras filter coffee, but cafe owners and chefs should try to taste actual french expresso before they claim to make cappuccino and mocha with regular mild coffee and milk froth.
Desserts were good. Hence the 2/5 rating. Otherwise I would just prefer to...
Read moreI recently discovered Writer's Café, and I'm absolutely enchanted by this literary-inspired culinary haven! The moment you step inside, you're transported to a book lover's paradise with walls lined with well-worn classics, comfortable reading nooks, and elegant décor that perfectly balances sophistication with coziness.
Their pastry selection is truly exceptional and would inspire any author to linger for hours. The display case showcases an impressive variety of treats that are as visually stunning as they are delicious. Their flaky almond croissants with delicate layers practically melt in your mouth, while their lemon-lavender tarts offer the perfect balance of tart and floral notes. The pesto pasta was nothing short of magnificent—perfectly al dente linguine coated in a vibrant, fragrant basil pesto that tasted like it was made minutes before serving.
The service at Writer's Café matched the excellence of their culinary offerings—attentive staff who seemed genuinely passionate about both food and literature offered thoughtful recommendations and engaged in pleasant conversation about books and pastries alike. My server even suggested a perfect pastry pairing for my after-meal coffee (their scone, which was divine).
Whether you're looking for a quiet corner to work on your manuscript, meeting fellow book lovers for brunch, or simply treating yourself to exceptional pastries and pasta, Writer's Café delivers a memorable experience that feeds both body and soul. This café has definitely earned a permanent bookmark in my collection of favorite...
Read moreWriter's Cafe in Tharamani is a lovely spot with a cozy and welcoming ambience, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. The atmosphere is calm, with soft lighting and a quiet vibe that’s perfect for a casual outing or even some quiet reading time.
The menu focuses on continental dishes, and they do a great job with their chicken and fish options. The dishes are well-prepared, flavorful, and presented beautifully, giving a fine-dining feel. However, while the plating and presentation are impressive, the portion sizes are on the smaller side considering the price. If you’re looking for a place that offers continental dishes with a touch of elegance, this place will definitely meet your expectations.
One of the highlights here is their hot chocolate, which is rich, creamy, and indulgent. It’s perfect if you’re in the mood for something warm and comforting. However, similar to the food, the quantity of the hot chocolate feels a bit less for the price charged.
The staff is courteous and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant experience. The cafe is also well-maintained and has a positive vibe that makes you want to stay longer.
While the pricing might feel slightly on the higher side for the portion sizes, the quality of the food and the thoughtful presentation make it worth trying. If you're in Tharamani and craving well-plated continental dishes or a good cup of hot chocolate, Writer's Cafe is definitely...
