Upon visiting Kath n Ghat in Thane, I was immediately struck by the restaurant's inviting ambiance and attentive service. The evening began with a pair of refreshing mocktails, the Orange Blossom and the King Bull, both of which were expertly crafted and presented with a flourish. The Orange Blossom, in particular, was a delightful blend of citrusy freshness and floral undertones, while the King Bull offered a bold and spicy kick that set the tone for the meal ahead. For starters, we opted for the Kolhapuri Kheema Baos and the Tandoori Khandeshi Chicken Tikka. The Kheema Baos was a hearty and flavorful dish, with the spiced minced meat perfectly complementing the soft, pillowy bao buns. The Chicken Tikka, marinated with a unique Khandeshi twist, was succulent and packed with a smoky tandoori flavor that left us eagerly anticipating the main course. The main event did not disappoint, with the Tandoori Pompret and Agri Surmai taking center stage. The fish was cooked to perfection, with the tandoori spices adding a delightful char and depth of flavor without overpowering the delicate taste of the seafood. The Chicken Masala was rich and aromatic, with tender chicken pieces in a robust, flavorful gravy. Bhajane Che Wade, a traditional Maharashtrian dish, was a delightful surprise – crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, it was a perfect accompaniment to the other dishes. As we concluded our meal, the Walnut Fudge with Vanilla Ice Cream was the perfect sweet note to end on. The fudge was decadent, with the crunch of walnuts adding texture to the smooth, creamy vanilla ice cream. Kath n Ghat has certainly made a mark with its innovative takes on traditional dishes, attentive service, and a menu catering to various palates. It's a must-visit for anyone looking for a dining experience that's both comforting...
Read moreA Disappointing Experience at Kath an Ghat My visit to Kath an Ghat in Thane for Sunday lunch was, unfortunately, a very poor experience, defined by a series of service failures and a lack of professionalism. The most glaring issue was the incredibly bad service. The staff appeared to be untrained and lacked the basic skills required for a service role. This was evident in the way they handled our requests and their general inattentiveness throughout the meal. The experience was made even more disappointing by the complete absence of a manager stepping up to address the various issues we faced. The problems extended beyond the staff to the restaurant's basic functionality. The cutlery was completely inappropriate for the menu. For a place serving Maharashtrian food, they failed to provide proper bowls for essential dishes like curries, 'varan,' or 'amati,' instead serving everything in ceramic stone cutlery. This made it difficult and awkward to enjoy the meal as intended. The culmination of the poor service came at the time of billing. The card machine was a complete mess, either due to a faulty internet connection or a technical issue. I had to swipe my card no less than four times, and each attempt failed. Despite the clear problem, no one offered a solution or an apology. We were left to figure it out ourselves, and I ultimately had to make the payment via GPay. Overall, the complete lack of trained service personnel, the unsuitable cutlery, and the frustrating billing process made this a very bad dining experience. It's a shame that a restaurant with a Maharashtrian theme fails to deliver on such fundamental aspects of...
Read moreI don’t give ratings but I have to say that what I experienced in a lavish upcoming restaurant .
Atmosphere: As soon as you enter you are greeted with the receptionist ( male ) asking for reservations which we didn’t have so he asks us to wait which we did for ten minutes. I expected a warm welcoming gesture but we didn’t get any not even a fake smile by him which led down for the service team . Then we were given a table which accommodated six people at once as I asked didn’t they have a table for two and I was left unanswered so we had to dine on that table .
Food : As we read the menu it had a great varieties of food from all corners of the state which I liked . The appetiser’s were very good which were prawns and fish fingers . When it came to mains the size of mains compared to the price on the menu had a huge difference which was a small portion . The front of the house never really looked interested in serving the food as we helped ourselves . Even when we had to call out for water refills .
Service had a big downfall when you see so many staffs just standing and chit chatting around in a corner while the captain has no clue what’s happening around . Been a Maharashtrian restaurant there were Bollywood songs played on the television which had no sense in such an environment.
The service charge on the bill was posted directly which I never liked as the service was disappointing.small things make a big difference in an industry where you have so much competitive restaurants around . I hope they would get plus points in coming future .but I don’t think I would go back and have a good...
