Prasad’s Home Kitchen … A destination for comfort food in the heart of Tiruvannamalai at the feet of Arunachala Ramana . When we leave the familiarity of our home to travel , the first thing we search is a decent place to stay and some healthy soul satisfying food . As we enter the sanctified zone of Arunachalam, there is no dearth of the ever flowing grace of Bhagawan and sure enough all our needs are taken care of. Especially one thing that was very close to the heart our Lord Ramana … satisfying every hungry soul that stepped into this holy city . A little distant from Ramana Ashram (Ramana Ashram Post Office, Road, Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu 606603) located on the first floor of a quaint building is Prasad’s Home Kitchen serving traditional Indian soul food straight out from your own mom’s kitchen ! The comfort vegetarian food is lovingly and meditatively cooked with apt ness by Raj Iyer from scratch every single morning religiously. Fresh vegetables and dairy products are sourced locally and prepped and transformed into absolute delectable dishes and served with total love and care by Raj himself . This personal care toward each guest in serving food reflects his dedication and surrender to Bhagawan’s philosophy that every soul who steps into the home is Narayana Himself! The complete thali or meal is very reasonably priced too:) On a personal note … the gajar ka halwa ( carrot dessert ) is my all time favorite and the Roti he serves are simply melt in the mouth heavenly :) Not only he runs his kitchen with dedication but Raj is equally dedicated in his Seva toward all and every hungry soul( sadhus) on the girivalam and the four legged ones too. He along with helps from friends across the globe makes sure that such seva toward all jivas are carried on continuously .
So yes… drop by and experience this soul satisfying home cooked comfort meal by Raj @Prasad’s Home kitchen just off post office road . I know I care about what I eat and I would always choose this place over...
Read morePrasad Home Kitchen appeared to me like a small ashram in itself. Seekers from different background come and converse naturally on different aspects of spirituality, or sometimes stay quiet and listen to the beautiful chantings going on at the background. Raj Sir too likes to converse on spirituality and loves everyone who come at his doors and shares his insights like a friend. He is very friendly and immediately makes you comfortable. After few days I had moments where I forgot I was actually at his place and not mine as I was roaming around his house carefree! Such is the warmth of his home and personality.
Bhagwan's pictures all around makes it such a profound experience to eat the delicious food. Raj Sir, a staunch devotee of Ramana, I think is guided by Ramana to prepare the satvic food for the devotees in Tiru. He refuses to expand his offerings via "Swiggy" despite us nagging him. He is content with feeding the devotees that come to him.
He has great passion in making new recipes each day. The food items I see in the pictures 2 yrs back are no longer the current list of food he serves. He innovated it!
I am blessed to consume the satvic food cooked by Raj Sir with so much love. My body also thanks me as I have noticed better energy and clarity of mind. It is places like this which keeps the seekers going - by taking care of their food part....
