❌❌❌Worst Hospitality Ever – Avoid This Place!❌❌❌
I don't understand how Eatery Restaurant near Shivala Ghat in Varanasi has managed to get good ratings because, honestly, this place deserves nothing but criticism. My experience here was beyond disappointing, and it wasn’t just the below-average food—it was the utterly appalling behavior of the owner that made it even worse.
Let’s start with the food: bland, tasteless, and nowhere near the standards you’d expect from a restaurant in a culturally rich place like Varanasi. But the real nightmare was the service. The owner himself, who I assume should be setting an example, was unbelievably rude. His tone while taking our order was so harsh, it felt like he was doing us a favor by even letting us eat there. To make things worse, he stood there arrogantly, and instead of approaching our table like a normal person, we had to physically turn our heads to place our order. Is this what hospitality looks like?
It gets worse. While we were eating, another set of customers came in and asked what was included in the thali. Instead of explaining properly, this guy had the audacity to point at our plate and tell them to look at what we were eating! Imagine how frustrating and intrusive it is when strangers are gawking at your food because the staff can’t even bother to explain the menu. It was outright humiliating and disgusting.
If that wasn’t enough, another family ordered a Special Thali, and they were made to wait for over 15 minutes. After all that waiting, the waiter casually walked up to them and said the Special Thali wasn’t available. How unprofessional can you get? The restaurant is tiny, with only 4-5 tables, and at the time, just two tables were occupied. How can a place this small fail so miserably at managing orders?
As for my personal experience, when I asked for extra dal, the owner brought it over and literally dropped it on the table like we were beggars. The level of disrespect was absolutely shocking. It’s clear that this place has no understanding of basic courtesy, let alone proper hospitality.
In conclusion, this so-called restaurant is an embarrassment. Poor food, horrible service, a rude owner, and a complete lack of professionalism. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this place as possible. There are plenty of better options in Varanasi where your money will be valued, and you’ll actually be treated like a human being.

Read moreStaff is mostly RUDE and don't care about customers. We visited several times just because the food is actually okay, but their behaviour is appalling.
But after the last episode we will not come back. Ordered the combo with 2 stuffed parathas and tea for breakfast. Only received 1 paratha, therefore we ordered one more from the menu. We waited and the 3rd paratha never arrived. When paying they asked for a lower price than expected and we assumed it was because they never served one of the stuffed parathas. They changed the bill and asked for more money. I told them we didn't eat the paratha, as per their menu. They demanded more money and said we should have waited. Well the waiter never told us there was a 3rd paratha being prepared and that could be a lie for all we know. We ended up giving them 50 rupees and leaving this place. We won't come back. They should have at least apologised instead of saying we were wrong. Instead of saying we should have waited. How could we guess if nobody informed us?
On other occasions they wouldn't bring us enough change, nearly forcing us to go to another shop to bring enough change to pay the bill. Also we tried to order Thali several times, only to be told it's not available, but then other people had Thali.
Overall, they don't care about customers, although customers are actually paying them. Although we visited several times, they still continued treated us badly. Unfortunately it was the only place close to our accommodation, otherwise we...
Read moreOverall, the experience at Eatery Restaurant was good. The prices are reasonable, and the quality of food is impressive. Dishes like Drums of Heaven were especially tasty, and the service time for food was not too long. Most of the items we tried were delicious and well-prepared.
However, the service staff could be more attentive. During our birthday celebration, we had to repeatedly ask for a matchstick, and even when it came to serving the cake, the staff resisted despite several reminders. This was a bit disappointing and affected the overall experience.
In short, the food and pricing are great, but the restaurant should work on improving the efficiency and cooperation of the service staff to make celebrations smoother and...
