Review for Jalapeno
I had high hopes when visiting Jalapeno, primarily because of the glowing reviews that the restaurant has received online. The positive feedback and high ratings made it seem like a fantastic place to dine, so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t match the hype, and it left me wondering if the reviews are genuine.
We decided to order a sizzler, expecting a flavorful, well-prepared dish that would justify the restaurant’s reputation. To our disappointment, the sizzler was far from what we anticipated. The presentation was lackluster, and the taste was worse. The vegetables were overcooked, the sauce was bland and lacked any depth of flavor, and the overall dish felt greasy and poorly executed. It didn’t have the freshness or attention to detail that one would expect from a restaurant with such good reviews.
Given the poor quality of the food, it was hard not to feel misled by the glowing online feedback. It almost seemed as though the reviews might have been manipulated or exaggerated, as they didn’t reflect my experience at all.
The ambiance of the restaurant was decent, with a cozy setup and nice lighting. However, the service wasn’t up to the mark either. While the staff was polite, the food took a long time to arrive, and when it did, it was far from satisfactory. The sizzler, which should have been a highlight, turned out to be a letdown.
I sincerely believe in giving restaurants the benefit of the doubt, as every place can have an off day. However, Jalapeno’s failure to deliver on its most basic promise—good food—makes it hard to justify another visit. A restaurant with such glowing reviews should at least be consistent with its quality, but that wasn’t the case here.
For anyone considering visiting Jalapeno based on its reviews, I would recommend approaching with caution. While it’s possible that other dishes might be better, my experience with the sizzler has left me doubtful about the authenticity of the online praise.
Overall, Jalapeno was a disappointing experience for me. If the management is reading this, I strongly suggest revisiting the quality of your dishes and ensuring consistency in your offerings. With such high expectations from the reviews, diners...

Revisited this restaurant. Updating my earlier review
We ordered: Garlic bread with mushroom in cream sauce - The taste was very good. The sauce was poured over the bread resulting in texture similar to a wet crumbled cake/pudding and this is how it should be served.
Ravioli in butter herb sauce It was a completely different take on traditional ravioli. This ravioli was dry, filled with paneer and spices topped with fried onions, chilli flakes, oregano, served with Cheese sauce. Update : since this is completely dry, owner recommend ordering the ravioli and 2 sauces
Quesidalla This was good and was served with housemade tomato salsa.
Paneer kulcha The big issue I had with this was the stuffing consisted of coriander whole (not powder). With every bite, all I could taste was coriander seeds. Not what I expected.
Update : The owner listened to feedback and confirmed that coriander seeds have been ommited from the recipe. Will definitely try this someday again
Paneer chili dry Owner was very kind enough to get this customised according to my liking (we had fresh mushrooms added). Overall, it was really very good.
Bruchetta Garlic bread topped with cheese, capsicum, mushroom, babycorn, red bell pepper, yellow bell pepper & sweet corn. It is a different take on traditional bruchetta and this was very tasty.
Overall, I was very happy dining here Owner and staffs were really courteous and listened to feedback. I definitely recommend visiting here and try out their take on food and other delicious items. I will visit here again soon. That...
Read moreA Culinary Gem in Varanasi - A Review of Mr. Jalapenos If you're looking for a place with truly amazing food in Varanasi, Mr. Jalapenos is a must-visit. My dining experience was fantastic from start to finish, with the kitchen and staff being the undeniable highlights. The food here is simply outstanding. The Jalapenos soup is a standout, living up to its reputation as a signature dish. It's a unique and flavorful starter that sets a high bar for the meal to come. The special sizzler was equally impressive. Not only was the taste sensational, but the presentation and decoration were also top-notch, making it a feast for both the eyes and the palate. And for a refreshing finish, the cold coffee was excellent. Beyond the food, the service was genuinely good. The staff was friendly and attentive, contributing to a very pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. While the food and service are flawless, the decor could use a little refresh. It's clear the design was spectacular when it first opened, but it's now starting to look a bit dated. A little sprucing up would bring the ambiance back to the level of the amazing cuisine. Overall, Mr. Jalapenos is a great spot with incredible food and great people. It's the kind of place you'll want to return to for the food alone, and I highly recommend it to anyone...
