Sagar Ratna has set a benchmark over the years when it comes to serving South Indian delicacies...The heterogeneity that we witness in their menu is highly appreciable...Carrying rice and coconut as the prime ingredients , South Indian dishes are delicious as well as healthy as it contains less oil... For random, less-calorie lunch/dinner/snacking, sagar ratna is one GO TO place for me...The stuffs served are appetising and light to my tummy as well..Tried :
Rasam + Aplam= rasam is famous South Indian starter drink carrying 26 spices in it and prepared using tamarind juice as base , served hot and sour ...Aplam is basically papad..Rasam was good and spices were aptly used..
Butter milk: It was so good..If you like butter milk then do try it here..
Salt corn n pepper and Crispy veg: Both of them were oily and tasted average , veggies were overcooked, need much improvement...
Dahi Idli and Dahi Vada: Both of them were simply delicious and highly recommended from my end...Do try it when you come to sagar ratna next, you will love it for sure..Dahi was fresh and thick with subtle spices making it a complete delicacy..
Schezwan noodles: It was nice..Usual schezwan noodles with less spices and less oily..
Veg dum biryani: it was really flavourful , served it ceramic pot, made smoky by keeping a piece of coal in it to infuse smoky flavour in it...Highly recommended ..Moreover their Raita is amazing..
Lemon rice: if you wanna have something light yet appetising , then try it...tasted a bit like indian poha..
Veg cheese dosa:heavily filled with veggies and cheese and tasted nice
Rawa coconut dosa: It was a bit dry I felt ...There was no stuffing inside and the mashed spiced potato was served in a separate bowl..
Family dosa: meant for 4 people...Huge dosa, with no stuffing inside, and served with sambhar, 2 chutneys and mashed spiced potato..
11.Chettined dosa: two small paper dosa crepes brushed with red and green chutney from inside and stuffed with a little spiced mashed paneer ...Its something new and deserves a try..
12.Rawa kesari: mildly sweet desert made of rawa..Perfect to end a meal..
Overall we had a nice experience dining in at Sagar ratna...A good family place and nice for group outings...
Read moreSagar ratna is one the finest and the most popular south indian food chain all over india. Recently i visited this outlet located near lanka. I have been there many times and its one of my fav. Place. The staff and service is very satisfying. They provide you a beautiful and soothing ambience with perfect lighting and soft music. The staff are very cooperative and courteous the service is quick and on time. You don't have to wait too long for your orders. Now coming to the food they are not limited to south indian dishes, they also serve amazing chinese and north indian dishes as well. The food quality is very nice and less oily. Well for south indian dishes they are one of a kind they serves amazing authentic and traditional dosas, vada and idlis with perfect recipes. The madras fries is a different way of having fries. Crisp and golden brown idli deep fries and served with lip smacking chutney. The uttapam ( veg and coconut) was good and delicious. I also tried their amazing veg soya chaap and being a non vegeterian i couldn't resist myself for having that it was as good as non veg chaaps. The mysore masala dosa was so good and the rawa dosa was also worth a try. The best of dosas was hot garlic dosa. Crunchy and the best i had till now. They serve massive 4 feet long family dosa which is enough for 5-6 people. I bit improvement is needed in kebabs but overall everything i had is highly recommended. I had:- South Indian Madras Idli fries- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dahi Vada-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Podi Idli-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rava dosa-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mysore Masala Dosa-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hot Garlic Dosa-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ( a must try from there menu) Spring Roll Dosa-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Family Dosa ( 4feet never ending)-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Coconut uttapam -⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ North Indian Dum ki Biryani -⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟 Beverage hot & Cold South Indian filter coffee-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ veg soya chaap* Malai tikka soya chaap- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Afghani soya chaap-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Masala chaap- ⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟

Read moreI visited here first time. The experience was good. Lets talk about dishes and taste etc. So, we ordered a delux thali. There were two types of sabzi, and a daal. And 2 parathas, and veg rice, and a pic of gulab jamun, and as neend salad, raita, achaar. Quantity was quite good. But as compared to other reputed resturant, the delux thali means 3 types of sabzi, 2 types of daal, minimum 2 types of roti.. But koi nhi, it was ok, because we ordered after knowing this. So this should be improved. So, come to the taste, taste was good, sabzi was excellent, daal was good, and the paratha was gr8.... Overall the taste was very good, quantity was good. The price of thali is 325 rupees.... But if u want to pickup for home, be ready to pay 30-35 rupees extra. The staff was very good, but one thing, which we faced, that there was a discount for BHU student s, but the wtr didn't tell this, when we have done, he came with bill, we ask that is there any discount. Then he said yes sir, but only for BahU students. So we was spriez, and we said you should tell this before. So we asked for the same, bht he said they I'm really sir, we can't do anything after bill, so take the bill to the counter, (they are very polite, with a very good nature of taking things), he at the counter, he said ok sir, no worry, next time whenever you will visit here, we will give u 20% discount, but this time please try to understand... We said, ok ok, no problem, we can understand.. then we pay the full amount, and he wrote on back of the bill, 20% ok next visit with some references.. So that was very good. And the wttr was apologized for the same, we said koi nhi bhai, ho jata hai, but next time please ask that r u student of bhu or not before proceeding to the bill.. But sorry we can't take any pic for our thali.. So, here is my over all...
