Ondo Cafe (mong cafe) — Restaurant in Uttar Pradesh

Loved it! A sane and safe place in that beautiful but crazy city.

I spent a total of 3 months in India with a majority of it in Varanasi, Mong became my safe “go to” place, from travel advice to a soup that could cure any tummy upset and a family that genuinely cared almost as much as my own family at home.

Mong is a quirky little Korean inspired café serving traditional Indian, Korean and western food, like many of the other small family owned café/guest hoses in that area, however for me Mong always seemed to have more heart and soul and I’m sure many other travers who have be lucky enough to stumble upon this diamond in the rough will agree.

A little hard to find but one you do your experience of Varanasi will forever be altered...

It’s so cool restaurant cafe with Aircon and fan, cozy and clean, so comfortable, we found it on map and so happy to get in ( in very small alley), we felt so hot after a day going around, this place give us back energy after good rest, we can lay down and sleep while wait for food and after lunch. Food so deliciou, the noodles is must try, I can not stop eating it, yummy yummy. Chicken is excellent. We talk with the owner, she is very gentle and polite and lovely , flexible, let us rest for a while, she was taught to cook by a Korean chef, that’s why the tast is so good. Fantastic place, fantastic women, fantastic food. Walked the streets of Varanasi for 4 years and finally there it is: the best food I had here so far. Tasty, delicate, spicy if want. Every items wants to be discovered.

Mixing sweet and salty for breakfast never have been better. It’s so clean and comfy.

Just ask her what she think is best for you if you don’t know Korean food.

Really calm atmosphere if Varanasi is too much for you. We feel so welcome every time we are here.

And we have a train ride soon and we asked her if we could have some of her delicious sandwiches to take with us. I can’t wait to taste them. Everything is made with love and passion.
