Tanatan — Restaurant in Uttar Pradesh

Okay so Tanatan is a place where your tastebuds get to rejoice the Indian cuisine. Since I'm a vegetarian and the place serves both Veg and Non veg so I'll help the Veg People with this review Don't worry I'm not paid to write this.

First of all Location : Located conveniently near the Raj Bhavan the place is too hard to ignore. Valet Parking available so don't worry about that

Intro : Okay so we came at this place for lunch A group of 6-7 people with mix combination of veg and non veg eating people.

Ambience : Now this place will give you royal rustic vibes with the interior being amazing. So I'll definitely give a star to its ambience. I'll be attaching photos be sure to check out.

Vibe : Now guess what.. this place offers live music also and trust me it's amazing so you don't get bored and the guy who played the time i visited was amazing and i got to know they change the singers with variety and many artists come and perform 🎶 So it's quite good.

Service: The service is quick and amazing the people are polite and they even give you worth it suggestions!! ✨

Now the most important one The food:

Since I'm a vegetarian In the starters we ordered a drink.. mine was simple jal jeera but it tasted nice Khao suey samosa is another fusion dish worth trying with a masala taste and small potency of lemon grass Next for starters as recommended was mushroom kebab type It's served on top of a crispy chip type and it's quite soft so eat it with a fork that's recommend Next the main course They have a dish named Mangal Pandey ki pasand something like that It consists of chole and naan And trust me It tastes awesome and it's smell is heavenly Small portion but amazing

We ordered Veg Biryani (Pulao as some may say) and the portion was enough for 2 people who already had the starter. Served with small portion of dahi/raita and a papad Veg Biryani is worth trying

Next was Paneer Tikka Butter Masala and Butter Garlic Naan Okay now if you want a burst of rich Indian flavors with your tongue enjoying each flavor The paneer tikka butter masala is your option (Tell them to put extra masala) And the naan is something drooling for You could see the butter and the smell of garlic complimenting it

With all this done And i was quite stuffed

But dessert is necessary so we ordered the Shahi tukda... And i personally was on cloud 9 after having it Like so rich with dry fruits of all sorts like cashew pistachio saffron that it just made my day 🤌✨

So all this was my personal experience Hope you all visit and feel the same

Had the opportunity to visit Tanatan Lucknow. Ambience is good. Owner has made an effort to give 'Lakhnavi' touch to the interiors. But somewhere in between, confusion came in and things got mixed up in traditional and modern look. Interiors are ethnic but bar stands out as modern stuff. The live music is also- all new peppy numbers. So both things do not just gel. If its traditional look, should have matched it with some ethnic wear for waiters, or do something about soft music kind of. My biggest crib- everything is VERY COSTLY.!! Whether it is snacks, drinks or main meal- I am sure pricing a notch less would have been better. Imagine, you are getting just 4 'small' pieces when you order butter chicken.!! Similarly in snacks, you get just 5 Galawati kababs in a plate. And no dish is less than 5--600/-. A pint of beer- 400/-plus.! And remember we are sitting in an average restaurant in 2nd tier city and not in some chic place in Mumbai or Delhi.! So my request to management- please rework your pricing. Add some soft music to compliment your ambience. These are suggestions. I know the restaurant is running well but I hope this feedback would be taken in positive manner. And yes, regarding parking- please don't show off by going for Valet parking. There is no parking space. Even the staff also parks on the roadside only which you can do it yourself. At least it saves you the guilt feeling of not giving tip to the staff when he reverses your car for 23 meters and handovers vehicle to you expecting a tip.!! The place is for those who are uneducated and want to waste money. If you are neither, then stay away from this pathetic restaurant. Opened in 2021 and this place has been selling half-hearted high sodium food with half-hearted service while charging Full prices. Butter chicken has so much methi, as soon as you swallow the first bite, it becomes Methi Chicken. Like seriously man, If I wanted Methi Chicken, I'll order that. Don't even get me started on the Zafrani Chicken tikkas & Drumsticks that are being served in huge-ass plates so that it looks so empty, you feel shy ordering it for an audience, and order more. Moreover they're doused in salt as if the Chef discovered it last night. The Live and loud music makes the whole experience unbearable and you start contemplating why you aren't at Aryan's, next door. It's technically bad enough to make you miss the Pizza Hut they replaced. The restaurant and it's food are a disgrace to Lucknow. The staff tries it's best, but what can they do when the owners are here to just make money by ripping off the masses. Also saw waiters mishandle a tray full of glasses and drop it onto one of the customers which pissed them off (broken glass everywhere)and they got up and left without paying a single penny.

Overall, I, Zomato Reviewers and Google Reviewers can all confirm, TANATAN is just a mediocre restaurant and I'd steer clear of it even if I had money to burn. You are better off...
