During our recent trip to Kalimpong, we explored Karma's Kitchen, a delightful eating place situated near the bus stand. Traveling with kids, we faced the challenge of finding restaurants with food options suitable for them, especially North Indian items. Although Kalimpong boasts several excellent Bhutanese and Nepalese restaurants, we decided to give Karma's Kitchen a try first.
Location and Ambience: The restaurant's location is perfect, being conveniently close to the bus stand. The ambience is very inviting, with a particularly charming touch: English storybooks on every table. These books, old literature prints by S. Chand costing around 5 INR, were a delightful surprise for our kids and kept them entertained.
Hygiene and Staff: Karma's Kitchen is very well-maintained and hygienic. The staff members are superb, providing excellent service and serving food within 15 minutes of ordering.
Food Quality and Variety: The quality and quantity of the food were impressive, especially the local dishes. Although our primary interest was in North Indian cuisine, which was also prepared to a high standard. The prices are reasonable, making it good value for money.
Overall Experience: Our kids enjoyed the place so much that we chose to dine there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the rest of our stay. The combination of good food, excellent service, and a family-friendly atmosphere made Karma's Kitchen a highlight of our trip.
I highly recommend Karma's Kitchen to anyone visiting Kalimpong. We wish the best for the restaurant and hope to...

That’s when we finally found Karma’s Kitchen. It was open, looked clean, and the staff welcomed us in warmly. There was an immediate sense of relief, both because we had found somewhere that met my husband’s standards, and because the place felt calm and tidy.
I ordered two thukpa, just meat, noodles, broth, and boiled egg, for our daughters, who are five and seven. Pork thukpa for me. Chicken biryani for my husband.
The thukpa was alright. Not bad, not especially memorable, but simple and comforting enough for the kids. Mine was just okay too. My husband didn’t enjoy his biryani, which was disappointing, but not entirely unexpected given it’s not really the restaurant’s specialty.
What stood out most was the service. They were accommodating, patient, and genuinely kind, even as we asked a few specific questions and requests. There’s something about being treated with quiet respect that stays with you, even when the food doesn’t quite leave a...
