Restaurant Review: A Flavorful Non-Veg Thali Experience at "Koshe Kosha" in Digha
During my recent visit to the beautiful coastal town of Digha, I had the pleasure of dining at "Koshe Kosha," a well-known restaurant renowned for its delectable Bengali cuisine. I opted for their non-vegetarian thali, and I must say, it was a truly satisfying culinary experience that showcased the rich flavors of Bengali cuisine.
The ambiance of "Koshe Kosha" was pleasant, with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that added to the overall dining experience. The staff were courteous and attentive, providing prompt service and ensuring that all our needs were met.
Now, let's dive into the star of the show—the non-vegetarian thali at "Koshe Kosha." Presented on a traditional steel thali, it offered a generous assortment of flavorsome dishes that showcased the authentic taste of Bengali cuisine.
The thali comprised a variety of non-vegetarian delicacies, each prepared with great care and attention to detail. The mutton curry was a standout dish, featuring tender pieces of mutton cooked in a rich and aromatic gravy. The meat was succulent and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the well-balanced spices that infused every bite.
Accompanying the mutton curry was a delightful dish called posto, which is a preparation of poppy seeds. The posto had a creamy texture and a subtle nutty flavor that added a unique touch to the thali. Its mild and comforting taste provided a refreshing contrast to the bold flavors of the other dishes.
Another traditional Bengali dish in the thali was sukto, a medley of vegetables cooked in a flavorful and mildly bitter gravy. The combination of different vegetables resulted in a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. The sukto provided a refreshing and nutritious element to the thali.
The thali also included a fragrant and aromatic pulao, which was cooked to perfection. Each grain of rice was infused with the flavors of aromatic spices, making it a delightful addition to the meal. The pulao acted as a perfect accompaniment to the rich and flavorful curries.
For the vegetarian component of the thali, a delicious veg dal was served. The dal was creamy and well-seasoned, with a comforting and homely taste. It added a wholesome touch to the thali, providing a balance between the non-vegetarian dishes.
To add a crispy and savory element, the thali featured begun bhaja, which is fried eggplant slices. The begun bhaja was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with the natural sweetness of the eggplant shining through. It added a delightful crunch to the thali.
Another crispy and flavorful side dish was jhuri alu vaja, which consisted of finely shredded and deep-fried potato strings. These crispy potato strings were seasoned perfectly, offering a delightful textural contrast to the other dishes in the thali.
The thali also included a serving of steamed rice, which served as a perfect accompaniment to the flavorful gravies. The rice was fluffy and well-cooked, providing a neutral base that allowed the flavors of the dishes to shine.
For dessert, the thali featured a traditional Bengali sweet—rosogulla. These soft and spongy cottage cheese balls soaked in a light sugar syrup were the perfect way to end the meal on a sweet note. The rosogullas were melt-in-your-mouth delicious and left me craving for more.
Overall, the non-vegetarian thali experience at "Koshe Kosha" in Digha was truly delightful. The restaurant provided a warm...
Read moreWe went to this place for our lunch on the second day of our Digha visit. It is located inside Jahaj Bari, New Digha. We were already aware of Koshe-Kosha's quality of foods but didn't expect this much in Digha! The first impression was pretty good because of its cleanliness, spacious and simple yet elegant interior. We have ordered for plain rice, shukto, Mocha-chingri, Bhektir Jhal and for kids have ordered Basanti pulao and Gondhoraj Murgi. In dessert we have ordered Mishti Doi. All the items were really delicious! The dish to be named specially is Mocha-chingri. Price is on the higher side and quantity was ok but the quality did justice to the price and quantity!
Utensils were clean, service was prompt! Staffs were well behaved and food was yummy! Happy...
Read moreWe ordered Non Veg Thali as the a la carte menu was pretty expensive. The food was good but it left something to be desired, the mutton we were offered did not taste very good. They used a lot of spices and in the end it tasted weird. And the amount of rice they give for thali is very less compared to other establishments. And they don't even fill it up for free. Also the fish curry tasted strange. In my opinion they should definitely change the way they make these items as being a Bengali it was really disappointing to eat stuff that I have been eating all my life and feel like it wasn't even on par with what I eat at my home. Anyhow the ambiance was nice and the...
