Swadeshi Cafe — Restaurant in West Bengal

It was our first visit there and sadly our last. Here's why.

We ordered a sweet fresh lime soda, a masala chai, and a crispy honey chicken.

Review of every item:

Sweet fresh lime soda: When it was served, it wasn't sweet but sour. So we requested them to have some sugar added to it. They gave us a fresh glass but this time it only tasted of soda without any lime. We told them about it, and they gave us a third glass. Even this one only had soda, less sugar and no lime. We kept the drink aside.

Masala chai: good. Nothing extraordinary.

Crispy honey chicken: fresh chicken but we felt it was cooked in sugar and not honey.

Service: Not good. Why? Despite complaining about the drink (120/-), the cook couldn't fix it. On top of that, when they gave us the bill, they charged us TWICE for the drink! I had to tell them to rectify it.

I didn't want to create a fuss in front of other customers. We paid and left.

My advice: Go there at your own risk. Even if you do, don't order anything that you haven't eaten there before. French fries should be the safest option; we should have ordered that instead of...

Cafe interior is nice, calm and soothing

The host was active, helpful and friendly

Interior will definitely make you feel good

I tried milk coffee

Trust me the coffee is overpriced and overrated

I personally didn't find anything unique or different from normal coffee that you can get for 20 rupees easily at Max

But they charge you 100 for the coffee and not even serve in fancy mug or cup but in normal dhaba type glass

So I would suggest optimises food rate simply reduce your food price. That will definitely attract more footfall and add some value.

Otherwise despite of having a nice interior and very efficient host, this place will not...

We had steamed momo and dosa. Food is good here. Drinks I would say is ok, could be better. Ambience is good. Small place but very well maintained. There is a huge space for improvement in service. Service person was very polite and helpful. But the reason I am giving 3 star, is the service person needs to know about every item on the menu. Because, people don't go to kitchen to know about the ingredients. And the second thing is that the spoons you provide need to be better. They are too flat to use for liquid items like soups,...
