Good place and has enough car parking.. not that easy to notice the place from the road or from a vehicle.. kind of hidden so need be go slow to enter the correct gate.
Restaurant has good ambience.. enough seating tables and good interiors.
Food has lot of varieties and ample quantity for a foodie to return home with a full belly for what you pay.
However based on my experience, staff could have warned me or suggested that I'm ordering more for 2 pax.. we took the combo #2 offer for 2 and ordered a sizzler for my kid.. it was obviously too much to stuff in.. a warning could have helped saved money and wasting food.
Price of the dishes are all high.. probably because of the starters quantity (unlimited) however if you are someone who prefer small portions.. this isnt the place for you..
Staff are all from north east so language is an issue. They do speak English but its hard to understand them..not the accent but the attitude i guess.. i had trouble understanding if he understood what i asked for (obviously spoke in English - "common sense" ). I had to ask and reconfirm everytime. I ask for coke, he just walks away.. didnt nod or say anything.. Few minutes later a coke bottle comes to my table.. not a bad thing, they are receptive but i wasnt sure if he got the order right. They all had a long face, it wasn't even late at night.. i looked like they are unhappy and disliked their job.
Another issue was i had to call for service everytime.. literally Everytime after i sat down. .. this is from placing the orders to asking for extra sauce or cutlery.. they dont care or even look at your table once the food is served. This looked really bad.. staff at other restaurants usually go extra mile to stay next to the customer and see to that they have a good time and are happy with their meal.. you can see this approach even at A2B or Saravana Bhavan.. this was definitely missing at this restaurant..
That's from my 2nd visit and i doubt if i will go back.. no complaints about the food or place.. poor service made it a very OK...
Read moreMy first unplanned visit to Flower Drum, KK Nagar; a 100% vegetarian Thai and Chinese Restaurant. A vegetarian's paradise 😁
They had both à la carte and a set menu. We opted for à la carte since we were kind of late, but weren't that hungry, if you know what I mean. We skipped the soup and directly went for for the starters; Kimchi Babycorn and Chili Paneer. While they were being served, we ordered the main course, Nasi Goreng, Vegetable Balls in hot garlic sauce, Citrus Vegetable Curry. My friend wanted to order some noodles. Going by the starters portion and faint memory of my earlier experiences at their Egmore restaurant, I asked my friend to hold that since I did remember their portions were quite big.
The starters were awesome, Chili Paneer was good, but I loved the Kimchi Babycorn more. Babycorn requires careful cooking to remove the raw taste, this was perfectly cooked, crispy and simply superb. By the time we finished the 2 starters (3 of us) we were half full.
Then arrived the main course. The portions 😲 ... Just by seeing the size of the portions we were full 😁. What we had missed to see was the Thai Citrus Vegetable Curry was served with a big bowl of steamed rice. This amazing dish bowled us over. We finished this and there was only little space in our tummies to taste the Nasi Goreng and the Vegetable Balls in Hot Garlic Sauce which was pretty good, but the Citrus Vegetable Curry had us in trance to appreciate this dish completely.
We pondered about having desserts after seeing the various Kulfi flavours, but decided against it. Next time may be..
The prices may seem high, but considering the portion size it is quite VFM. It is better to come in groups or as a family to enjoy to the fullest, so as to taste many dishes, as the portions are quite huge. The ambience and service is quite good. The seating arrangements were good too. They have a ample car parking too. Overall a good experience, but yet to be explored to the fullest. Note to self: Visit...
Read moreI ordered my regular Thai green curry with steamed rice. As I took my first bite, I immediately noticed that something was off. The vibrant and aromatic essence of lemongrass, basil, and coconut milk, which used to define this classic Thai dish, had vanished. Instead, I was met with a bland and unremarkable curry that failed to capture the essence of its origin. Curious and concerned about this sudden change, I politely asked the waiter about the alteration in taste. To my surprise, the response I received was far from satisfactory. The waiter, with a smug smirk on his face, dismissed my query as if I were unaware of what the real taste of Thai green curry should be. This condescending attitude only exacerbated my disappointment and left me feeling disregarded as a valued customer. As a regular patron, I expected a certain level of quality and taste consistency. It is disheartening to witness a decline in the very attributes that initially drew me to this establishment. I believe that customer feedback should be valued and acknowledged, rather than met with dismissive smirks. After this experience, I am left questioning whether this restaurant still deserves my loyalty and...
