A Two-Hour Wait for One Dish (And It’s Not Even a Weekend!)

We walked into this place at 9:30 PM, hungry and excited after watching all those Instagram reels showing smiling faces and sizzling food. Honestly, those reels deserve an Oscar for Best Fiction, because the real experience was pure chaos and disappointment.

The moment we sat down, the table was still sticky and uncleared from the previous guests — not a great start. Still, we gave them the benefit of the doubt and placed our order: 4 dishes — 3 non-veg and 1 veg for our vegetarian friend. The waiter confidently said, “20 minutes only, sir.” Sounded promising. Spoiler: it wasn’t.

By 10:30 PM, exactly one hour later, the first and only dish finally arrived — a tired-looking plate of momos that looked like it had travelled from another state. Our vegetarian friend still sat with an empty plate, probably reconsidering all her life choices by then.

At 11:00 PM, after multiple reminders, all we got was the same robotic chant — “Please wait sir… please wait sir…” By now, I had turned completely invisible. The waiter walked past us repeatedly like we didn’t even exist.

By 11:15 PM, frustration hit its absolute peak. When we asked again, he casually said, “Many tables sir, we’ll serve one by one.” One by one? Seriously? This is not a ration queue or a temple lunch line. Every single table around us looked equally helpless — waiting, hungry, and silently regretting their decision to dine here.

The staff looked completely lost, the service painfully slow, and the ambience nowhere close to what’s shown online. No apology, no update, no basic courtesy — just blank faces and delay after delay.

Finally, at 11:30 PM, after five “please waits” and two hours of wasted patience, we gave up. We paid for the only dish that ever made it to our table, cancelled the rest, and decided to leave. And right then — like the grand climax of a bad comedy — the waiter came running with the remaining dishes shouting, “Sir, ready now!” Ready now? After two hours? What were you doing, growing the vegetables out back?

Mr. Rakesh, if this is your idea of customer service, it’s time for a serious rethink. People come here to eat, not to test their patience. And to top it off — it wasn’t even a weekend rush!

“A hungry customer loses patience faster than a chef loses flavor — serve late, and you’ve already lost the...

1/5 — Absolutely Terrible Experience (Oct 14 Visit)

This place has officially gone from one of my favorites to a total disaster. We reached around 9:10 PM and ordered just two dishes — Steamed Momos and Achari Momos.

From the start, everything was a mess: • We had to wait 10 minutes for a table to even be cleaned, and no staff bothered to attend or offer a menu — we had to grab it ourselves. • The first dish arrived at 9:35 PM, only after I went to the kitchen myself to ask what was taking so long. • The second dish never came, and even at 10 PM they were giving excuses like “it’s being made.” When we checked before leaving, the dish hadn’t even been started!

We cancelled the order and left, but the staff’s rude and careless attitude was the last straw. No apology, no basic courtesy — just complete indifference.

For a place I’ve been visiting for over 4 years, it’s shocking to see how low the service quality has dropped. The management clearly doesn’t care anymore. No matter how good the food might be, it’s not worth the stress, disrespect, or wasted time.

This place has become...

A wasted potential. Rikki's is known for its authentic momos which I doubt whether it still holds. Few many things gone wrong during my visit yesterday

When we went yesterday there was barely 3 tables filled, with no one to take order. Took us about 10 mins to figure we have to order at the counter. That was unusual as we ordered at the table before. No signs.

The momos we ordered was of different consistency. One was thin succulent and juicy the other set broke a few wooden spoons(super hard). The cheese sauce had barely any cheese, but sweet mayo.

Mid way, we ordered an additional dish which they forgot, delivered it to a different table, by this the restaurant got crowded.

We got our final order and was munching through, that's when one of the main attendees whispered and nudged us to finish off sooner as there were too many people waiting.

Had we got our orders on time we'd have vacated the spot at least 30 mins before. As customers we were patient. But you guys couldn't?

There is still hope for Rikki's but if customers are treated like this without proper attendance then that...

Had a very dissatisfying experience here. Reached there by 10.35pm. The food was okay, the ambience was good, but poorest of the service i would say. We ordered some starters and also ordered main course right away, as in the waiter has suggested that it might take some time. Got some tandoori momos, lemon chicken and 2 more options also suggested by the waiter. All of them were okay. Finished off the starters, waited, but no signs of main course yet. Slight delay is always understandable, we then had waited for another 30 mins and still nothing yet. Upon asking the server, they had completely forgotten the maincourse and was smiling as if they didn’t know what to do. There wasn’t anyone properly incharge at all there, just poor workers who didnt know what to do. We asked them to cancel off everything, paid for the starters and just left the place. A perfect example of how to ruin someone’s night. The irony is that on the way downstairs there’s a poster put up saying ‘Time is precious waste it wisely’. We weren’t wise enough to skip this place i guess !

I recently dined at Rikki's near Palavakkam Beach and indulged in a delectable feast. Among my selections were the Veg Ramen, which stood as an epitome of culinary brilliance, unmatched by any I've savored before. The Kurkure Momos were a symphony of crunch and flavor, their impeccable stuffing harmonizing flawlessly with a scintillating sauce that left a fiery impression on my palate. The Lemon Soup, though commendable, paled slightly in comparison. A haven for my vegetarian companions, Rikki's showcases artfully prepared vegetable dishes. The genial owner regaled us with tales of his culinary journey, fostering a delightful discourse. Though my visit coincided with renovations, I anticipate a resplendent ambience next time, while service enhancements are encouraged. Rikki's, an epicurean haven, indeed gratified my taste buds.
