10 of us had been to Bayroot for dinner. The staff picking up our calls were very courteous and ensured that our table was ready by the time.
The seating - the table & chairs, the way the cutlery was placed, the mat below our plate... everything resembled a high-end restaurant.
We had the following and I have also added the rating next to each dish.
Soups
Roasted Pumpkin Soup - was a tad sweet but very nice. (4/5) Mushroom Veloute - nice soup though this was served warm only. (4/5) Pasta E Fagioli - very nice (4.5/5) Soups were served with yummy & mildly soft & crunchy Garlic Bread.
Starters
Spicy Jackfruit Gyoza - one word: 'outstanding'. (5/5) Vegetable Papdi Seekh - a mix-veg & papdi seekh grilled in Tandoor. (4.5/5) Bharwan Paneer Tikka - big cubes of nuts-stuffed paneer grilled in Tandoor. (4.5/5) On the Arabian grill section, we chose the Cauliflower Kebab. While it was cooked well, this was bland to our liking. (3.5/5)
Main Course
Tuscan Gnocchi - will start with the least liked item of the day. The Tuscan Gnocchi was made of Potato Pasta (or similar) and was way too bland. (2.5/5) Spinach and Ricotta Cannelloni - The best dish of the day, the Cannelloni was 'Top Notch' (5/5) Pizza Verdure - On our special request this was made spicy. Too good it was that after the Gnocchi failed to impress, we ordered one more. (5/5) Giardino Pizza - Another yummy pizza (5/5)
Since we were full, we skipped dessert. Some other day, I will add them to this review.
Soups were served in beautiful bowls and are quite filling. Pizzas are made in wood fired oven - you can watch their making if interested - and the crust, though thin, is outstanding in texture & taste. Cannelloni was served straight out of the oven!
Ranjith waited at our table and had couple of others helping him. A very smiling and courteous personality, he ensured that we were well taken care of. Bayroot Team, you have a star performer in Ranjith.
All in all, we had a great time and would...

I received some raving reviews a while ago for this place and tried to test it out.
The mushroom soup's description read "roasted mushroom puree, stuffed morels, and porcini dust"... All that was on the bowl was a muddy concoction of which was nothing short of an excuse for a soup. I need to mention that when we had ordered for one full portion, they served us a one-by-two, and there was a soaked bread in the middle, which I couldn't make out whether it was by design or by accident. I didn't bother asking why the stuffed morels were missing, for I was pretty sure that they'd say that it was "out of stock"
The hummus was at the most bland, and the portioning was terrible. Who serves literally three small pieces of pita with a bowl full of hummus? And when we asked for more pita, our waitress politely refused and told us that the only we could get more pita was if we ordered another portion of hummus!!
The maki was good and the reason why the review is a 2-star and not 1-star.
We had a pizza and their stuffed cannelloni. The stuffing was under cooked and under-seasoned, while pizza had a overtly generous dump of caramelised onions, with barely any other seasoning, leaving us wanting for more taste.
The only omnipresent member of every dish we ordered, except the sushi was rocket leaves. I mean, seriously, Arugula, and large servings of it, were on every single dish, even the hummus!
Food alone isn't the reason why I write this scathing review. The waiter clearing the table was so quick to send us off the restaurant, that he offered to clear out our tables midway through out meal. The service was quite slow, even on a surprisingly lean Saturday night, and one can one only wonder how they'd be on full nights.
The ambience was lovely, especially the lighting, and was the silver lining on an otherwise lackluster experience.

Read moreThe ambience of the places is upscale. The restaurant can seat 20-25 at the max and it is recommended to make prior reservations if you are planning to dine in over the weekend. The acoustics in the restaurant needs a serious makeover as it seemed very noisy and it was very difficult to have a conversation without raising one's voice.
We tried the following: Prawn in Garlic Pepper - The Prawns were large, succulent, fresh and prepared really well with bits of garlic- pan fried. The flavor was brought out nicely. Iranian Kharoof Kebab - We were a bit flummoxed as we felt we had been served Chicken instead of lamb - but the Chef was courteous to come and explain the way it was prepared and also offered a sample of similarly prepared piece of chicken so that we could make out the difference. It was served with a small portion of Hummus and Pita bread. The dish however, was a dampener and just tasted like Chicken tikka. Hariyali Paneer Tikka - well prepared. Indian Chicken Pizza & Four Cheese Pizza - these were exquisite thin crust pizzas with a generous toppings. We really enjoyed the pizzas. Mongolian Claypot Lamb - served with sticky mushroom rice. There was quite a lot of asparagus in the lamb gravy and the dish was good. Tawa Paneer Masala - the Paneer was very soft and well prepared and served with Garlic Naan. Felt the masala was a dash bit much.
The service is decent but could be improved though - they bungled up the Veg Starters for us and one needs to try and seek the attention of the stewards for a water refill etc. The portions are small with the prices on the higher side. One should certainly try the...
