An Excuse of a Pub – Never Visiting Again
Visited Middle of Nowhere (Chennai) day before yesterday and had one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a so-called “restobar.” Here’s exactly what happened:
We started off by browsing their liquor menu, which looked decent on paper – but in reality, barely any of it was available. After ordering a couple of drinks, only to be told they weren’t in stock, the server didn’t even bother coming to our table. Instead, he called us over to him. Completely unprofessional and off-putting.
There was a DJ, but honestly, it felt more like a noise distraction than actual entertainment. The place seriously lacked any vibe or energy that a real pub should have.
Since I had traveled quite a bit and was planning to crash early, we kept it light: just three 30ml each of brandy and single malt. When the bill came, things got worse. They had charged us for 1.5 pegs of single malt and 2.5 pegs of brandy. Turns out, they had billed two large (60ml) instead of two small (30ml), basically adding a drink we never ordered or consumed.
When I pointed this out, the server started giving me a ridiculous lecture, claiming “2 large = 2 small” – which is utter nonsense. I was honestly shocked at the confidence with which he kept repeating this blunder. Then came the insult – he told me I must be confused after a couple of drinks. Absolutely unacceptable.
I asked for the manager. He flat-out said there was none and started shouting at us instead. I told him clearly – if there’s no manager coming, we’re not paying and we’re not leaving. Eventually, someone was called, checked the bill, and admitted there was a billing error. No apology, no courtesy – just a pathetic, half-hearted fix after a major mood kill.
One more thing – I specifically like my drink on the rocks. This guy didn’t even ask – just poured water into my single malt, ruining the whole drink.
All in all, this place is a disaster. Poor service, misleading menu, billing errors, and rude staff. We only noticed the overcharge because we ordered so little – I can only imagine how many people they might be ripping off on a regular basis. Never setting foot in this...
Read moreMiddle of Nowhere is an amazing place to spend for date nights, ladies night outs and with the family too. One of the few places that allows kids on the weekdays to enjoy the ambience and service. Now coming down to the brass tacks, 'M.O.N' is handicap friendly and easily accessible via elevator on the 3rd floor. This gastro pub has a myriad of unique starters, mains and amazing cocktails to choose from. All the three times we visited the restaurant our reservations where handled by Charles.
Now taking you through the 'M.O.N' experience. The ambience is up market, sophisticated and very plush. The lighting and decor very classy. In terms of food we did mostly starters. The starters portions easily serve 2.
The masala peanuts, prawn peri peri, teriyaki glazed chicken tenders, smoked jalapeno and duo cheese sheres, moraccan fish fingers and chips, chicken-sun dried tomato and capers baguette and chicken cordon bleu tenders were really good. I will give hands down give a 5 out of 5. The 'C' for calamari had the right crunch however it was slightly salty. The team where more than willing to replace the dish, we decided to douse it with ketchup and make it all right.
Now coming to the drinks, our mixologist Muthu served non-sugary gin-based cocktails that were refreshing using natural juices. These were excellent. The second time around he customised our vodka shots and made each every round of shots unique and different. They were simply amazing. I have make a special mention here that he truly deserves the title of 'the superstar of mixology'.
In terms of service, everyone, right from the maitre de, the wait staff as well as the mixologists really bend over backwards to ensure patrons have a good time and become regulars. The warmth and friendliness is really endearing. Thank you 'M.O.N' for making all our visits extremely special...
Read moreThis is my second time visiting Middle of Nowhere, 1st time I was impressed with the ambiance, varieties of Drinks and the Service, after return from the Gulf country, went with my mates for a party, totally regretted why I went there, let me share my bad experience there,
We have booked a Table for 3, yet booked, the staffs hold us at the entrance there for a while and Questioning us with repeated Questions even after we showed our booking confirmation (Mood put off for any customer)
After receiving the Menu we have ordered our desired drink, when we are ordering a drink from the menu, we obviously know the price, No need repeat us with price several time. ( Questioning the customer's purchasing capability is another Mood put off)
The DJ there is an Incompetent fellow, the choice of music he choose and the amount of volume for those music is really irritating and totally spoiling the ambience. (Most people just don't come for drinking they come for enjoy the vibe and ambiance of the place) This time listening to those horrible sounds, so called music gave me a real bad headache) we even told at the beginning to change the music or atleast reduce the sound, but they simply ignore our requests.
The pest control of the place need to be improved, find flies and rats running around the place.
A peice of advice to them, Kindly treat your customers with respect and never ever pre judge them, as a corporate firm you should value your customers and take their last penny from their pocket by providing an excellence service.
