This is the real Bali style international food options that drew many of us authentic travelers in the years before the social media infection and all these guides and posts.
This is a no frills, humble warung hidden down a small alley off a busy road. It's set back just enough (not even 30 seconds from the main raid), yet it is incredibly quiet and cozy, featuring basic bamboo construction and simple yet cozy chairs.
The menu offers a lot of authentic style Japanese dishes, most of which aren't available at all the trendy Japanese restaurants, you know the kind - simply trying to be something they are not. There is no sushi here. This is home style foods that you would expect to eat at a family home in Japan. The dishes are prepared freshly, seasoned to perfection and satisfying in their simplicity. Prices are extremely reasonable and the lunch special is a steal at around 78k. The staff were friendly and attentive. Again, no bells and whistles, just a simple concept that's been executed very well. It's owned by a Japanese family who have lived in Bali since the 90's.
Don't come here to be another obnoxious and unoriginal influencer- that's a rapid infection overtaking the island and longterm residents absolutely hate it. Come here if you're an authentic foodie who enjoys taste over the "smoke and mirror" b.s. that's oh-so-common throughout the island these days. While this place isn't anywhere near where I live, should I find myself nearby I will go out of my way to eat here again. They even have reasonably priced sake that won't blow your mind but it will surely hit the spot....
Read moreMy worst experience was having dinner here. Came here several times, this time with my girlfriend. We ordered 2 food and 2 drinks.
The only order that came was 1 food and 2 drinks.
Waiting for food for tens of minutes, until my girlfriend had finished her food, the food I ordered had not come.
First, I asked one of the staff, regarding the status of my food order, the staff said: (will check my order status in the kitchen). Waiting for several minutes, the staff I asked ignored me and didn’t tell me of the status of my food order.
Second, I asked the other staff at the bar counter, saying that my food was being processed. I kept waiting, I patiently asked to wrap my order, because we had to go back.
But why not one of all the staff answered my first question.
At first glance in my mind I suspected that the waitress who took our order didn’t record the complete order. If my food wasn't made, the staff should have said it wasn't made, and I definitely understand respect for miscommunication
I confirmed whether my order was being made or not, the staff answered that it was being made. This means that the staff is aware and aware that I ordered the food I ordered.
Third, a staff member came to apologize for the delay in my food order. And said my food was finished and ready for take away
Until finally we ended dinner and paid the bill at the cashier. However, 1 packaged food order was not ready.
And we don't have enough time to wait and have to go immediately.
Of course we paid for 2 meals and 2 drinks as ordered, for 1 meal and 2 drinks...
