Warung Rama is one of our favorite eating place while in Bali. This authentic Balinese restaurant is located close to Ubud in the village of Nyuh Kuning. All of the dishes my husband and I tried were delicious authentic Balinese food made from fresh ingredients purchased daily at the Ubud morning market. In addition, the food were prepared and served by the owner Ibu Dayu with a cheerful smile. Since we discovered her restaurant toward the end of our stay in Ubud, we could only ordered most of her main dishes over the course of several days. Her Nasi Campur dish was the best out of all the warungs we tried in Bali.
Our experiences at this warung were enhanced by the friendliness of Ibu Dayu. For example, after one of our conversations which we mentioned that at the Ubud morning market it appeared that we were charged the tourist prices even after hard bargaining for fresh fruits, Ibu Dayu permitted us to accompany her to the market the following day. She then helped negotiate prices that the local paid.
In summary we highly recommended Warung Rama for its delicious authentic food served at a very reasonable price with a friendly environment.
In fact, after writing this my husband and I are craving for her Nasi Campur and Mie Goreng. Yummy...
Read moreI had the most heartwarming and authentic dining experience at Warung Rama Restaurant in Ubud. The atmosphere exuded a sense of homemade comfort, with a mother and her daughters crafting each dish to order. The commitment to using fresh ingredients was evident in every bite, as the flavors truly shone through. It's incredible to know that the ingredients are sourced fresh every morning – a dedication that is clearly reflected in the taste.
The prices were unbelievably affordable, almost to the point where I felt guilty! The value for money was exceptional, especially considering the outstanding quality of the food. Each dish was an absolute delight, showcasing the richness and authenticity of Indonesian cuisine.
For those seeking a genuine Indonesian culinary experience, Warung Rama is an absolute gem. The flavors, the warmth of the staff, and the inviting ambiance make it a must-visit destination. Read moreAmazing food for a good price, in a local small restaurant family owned. Felt like home.
Preamble: before deciding to have dinner at Warung Rama, we read the reviews and accepted the fact that, being a family owned and ran business, it could take time to get the food.
Once we arrived, it was clear that the place was ran completely by one person, Ibu, at least later in the evening (we arrived at 8pm, and she closes at 9). The place was full. We weren’t in a rush, even though hungry. Ibu cooks every meal on the spot, using fresh ingredients, and this takes time. She is also the waiter when she’s alone, so you have to be patient. The food was by far the best had in Bali. The warung is cozy and clean, and listening Ibu’s stories makes the local experience complete. I felt like the mum of a friend of mine was cooking for me. She’s such a sweet soul.
If you are looking for fast mediocre food yet with good facilities, go to a restaurant instead.
