Feels like I walked right through a portal across time and space. All you silly people keep insisting I was in Bali, whereas I bet this was Murica.
Let's see: mostly Caucasian clientele in flip flops, check. Ethnic servers and kitchen staff - check. Mostly Asian plebs walking along the streets outside though with a healthy smattering of Caucasians, check. American cafe prices - check. Forced payment of gratuities in the form of a 6% service charge - check. God awful cafe culture and cafe item tastes - check check check.
at least the serving girls were nice. My drink, a hibiscus tea with cinnamon and honey, was full of hibiscus and I could not taste the other bits at all. After telling them, they remade the drink, though I still could hardly taste anything besides sour hibiscus. Too ashamed I said "its fine" when they asked even though I should have just asked for refund instead.
Partner got a carrot celery ginger drink, tastes like a sick concoction vegetable juice to me.
Chose this store because bursting for toilet after walking from babi guling eatery 4km away. 1/5 will piss pants next time instead.
severe mismatch between quality of food and price you are charging. The two drinks I bought costed more than my mixed platter grill at Moana down the road. Also as a tea aficionado, you have definitely been far too stingy...
Read moreWent here a number of days ago with my friend. Arrived about 9pm and we ate at 920 or so. Food and drinks were excellent. However, it came to 945pm and the staff just brought us the bill and ask for payment ?!?! Never asked if we like another drink, dessert or coffee etc. I asked why they brought the bill and they said they were closing ?!? 945pm basically made us feel uncomfortable ?!?! I said I would pay shortly. Then they started taking things off the table, standing over the table, reminding us they are closing and can we pay, this was 950pm now. I live in canggu and my friends but will not ever revisit which is sad as we all like the food. The staff need to learn that this not what you do, you ask guests if they like anything else especially when it’s not that late and just because they want to go home at 10pm on the dot! Sorry guys but you will continue to lose customers for the owners and the management is to blame here (as asked us basically leave). Bad service ! 1 star for service and 1 star for atmosphere created. Recommend the owners sit down with the team asap as...
Read moreThe Common in Canggu is one of those brunch spots where you don’t even need to think twice about what to order. The chili scrambled eggs are the perfect balance of creamy and spicy, each bite just enough to kickstart your morning without setting your mouth on fire. Pair that with a freshly squeezed orange juice, and you’ve got a meal that doesn’t just fill you up but actually makes you feel good. It’s one of those places that feels comfortable and familiar, but they put enough care into the details to make you want to come back again. Whether you’re a Canggu regular or just visiting, this place has the right mix of casual and quality. It’s not just the food, though the atmosphere is just right. The minimalist decor keeps things fresh, and the staff always makes you feel at home. Whether you’re on a solo coffee break or meeting friends, the vibe is welcoming and easygoing. It’s also great for anyone on a special diet, there’s something for everyone. The Common hits that perfect balance of quality and comfort, and I’ll definitely be back for another round of those...
