Best and favorite vegan restaurant in Canggu. Period.
Let me explain.
The main things I look for when I go to a restaurant are:
Cost Atmosphere Quality & Variety
There are many great restaurants in Canggu, however most restaurants will get 2 of the 3 on the checklist but few will cross all 3. Dua Hati Cafe achieves all of this.
[Cost] - First and foremost, it doesn't matter if you're a traveler or a local, Dua Hati Cafe is very affordable. Because of the affordability, it has kept me coming back here multiple days a week. I've become a regular because it's hard to beat the cost, especially for a vegan restaurant in Canggu.
[Atmosphere] - Great atmosphere is challenging to come by. And finding a clean + indoor (air conditioning, yes you read correctly!) seating, that's even more difficult. This restaurant has both. Major plus ++.
The clean minimal design with chill vibes makes it easy to pull the laptop out for a deep work session, to sit and read a book/kindle, or/and sit to hangout with a friend without having to shout at each other.
[Quality & Variety] - They have authentic Indonesian + Western style cuisines. Having eaten here on multiple occasions, I can say with confidence they buy their ingredients daily and locally to make the meals fresh. Sometimes going to restaurants the meal become inconsistent in taste when the cooks/chef changes shifts, yet here I've come for breakfast, and on occasion I also come for dinner and they've been great at keeping the taste consistent throughout different times of the day.
I'll tell you my favorites: a) Scrambled Tofu Croissant - Savory croissant served with vegan thousand island sauce, spinach, onion, and crispy mushroom. (I have dietary food restrictions on onion/garlic/bawangs and the staff are super accommodating in removing the food for me. LOVE THIS!)
b) Nasi Campur - Veg "Meat" satay, mushroom, tempeh, greens, potatoes, spiced shredded coconut, and sambal. The portions of this item are generous and for the price, and I would say for the value, this one is possibly the best deal on the entire menu. I have not regretted ordering this each time I come, especially when I'm hungry.
c) Banana Snickers Smoothie/"Thickshake" - Banana, peanut butter, dates, cocoa, and coconut milk. Simply, delicious. Need I say more?
d) Crispy Cauliflower "Wings" - This is my little nibble snack. It's like popping popcorn into my mouth. Yummm
Sparknotes/TLDR:
Pros: Great prices, low cost Awesome chill atmosphere, indoor + outdoor seating. Indoor has air conditioning. Yay! Fantastic food that's fresh, consistent and local. Awesome staff/team: The two servers Komang and Listya have been a rock star to help accommodate food dietary restrictions Awesome to have a seating + standing section for work. The tall tables are great for changing it up as a 'standing desk' and they even supply outlets underneath the table. Love the thoughtfulness in having that in mind for the customers.
Cons: Wish they would've been here in Canggu even earlier. Only one location in Bali. They should open more locations, possibly in Uluwatu and Ubud.

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining here, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of exceptional.
The combination of fresh, vibrant flavors and the warm ambiance made for an unforgettable meal.
To start, I enjoyed a glass of Apple Beet Carrots juice. The blend of apple, beetroot, and carrots was incredibly refreshing. The natural sweetness of the apples paired perfectly with the earthiness of the beets, creating a drink that was both energizing and satisfying. The hint of mint on top added a delightful burst of freshness, making it the perfect beverage to complement the meal.
Next, I indulged in the Cauliflower Fries. These crispy bites were a real treat. The cauliflower was fried to perfection, maintaining a crunchy exterior while being tender on the inside. The accompanying dipping sauce was rich and flavorful, providing a nice contrast to the subtle taste of the cauliflower. It's a must-try for anyone who loves a good, guilt-free snack.
For the main course, I opted for a plate of Indonesian local food. The dish was a beautiful medley of textures and flavors. From the hearty red rice to the variety of vegetables and the perfectly seasoned tempeh, each element was thoughtfully prepared. The coconut flakes added a lovely touch of sweetness, while the sambal offered just the right amount of spice to tie everything together. Every bite was a journey through the diverse and rich culinary traditions of Indonesia.
Overall, they exceeded my expectations. The dishes were well-prepared, the ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were authentic. Whether you're a vegan or just someone looking to explore Indonesian cuisine, this restaurant is definitely...

Whatâs really nice about this place is that theyâve turned local dishes into vegan versions. I had a fake pork belly dish which was very good, and all of their satays ( fake lamb/ chicken/ meatball/ beef)- all of these were insanely tasty. Personal favourite of the Satays was the beef (ordered more of them after). Favourite thing about the pork belly dish was the fake boiled egg- best egg fake Iâve tried so far! My partner had the nasi I amour and each component of that was also great- would recommend
Also tried an iced tea, which was so fragrant with some sugar syrup.
We had banana fritters for dessert and they were surpassingly tasty( donât usually like fried banana, but this worked very well)
Would highly recommend this place, was my favourite vegan restaurant of all the ones I tried in Bali!
Staff were also lovely and fast, and the atmosphere was nice.
The value of the food was great!(a satay was...
