There are places you go to just because you eat well, and then there are places you go to because you feel at home. Roman Pizza is one of the latter. I stayed in Canggu for a month, and I discovered this little gem with great pleasure on a rainy day when I was craving Italian flavors. Few tables, mainly takeaway, I went back there several times (whatever pasta you choose, they are all excellent! - bolognese - pesto - mushrooms - cacio e pepe, but also the pizzas). The fundamental element is the owner, Luca, a true Roman. He welcomed me as if we were in our neighborhood in Rome, and we sit to have a talk as if we were two old friends. A nice person, excellent businessman, but above all a connoisseur of good Italian flavors, which he carefully chooses and keeps improving to give the best possible experience both to the locals, Italians and non-Italians, and to us visiting tourists. And the prices are also excellent! Absolutely worth trying.
My favorite? The calzone Nutella and mascarpone. AMAZING.

Read moreFirst things first, the pizza is good enough that no one will be offended, but that's the best I can say about it. It won't win any awards and won't make a single person's "Best Pizza in Bali" list.
Similarly, we had the Bolognaise pasta and the spaghetti was chewy which was weird because it wasn't al dente or even hard, as I would expect it to be of undercooked. It was just... chewy. The sauce was similar to the pizza... good enough not to offend anyone but hardly can be considered "good"
On top of the food, it must be mentioned that there is no dining room to speak off. Just a few tables open to the road, which wouldn't normally be noteworthy except that it was right by the road which made eating there hot, dusty and noisy.
Finally, we need to talk about the prices, which are very good for what you get. It's this element of value which nudges the restaurant from a...
Read moreThe pizza maker is negligent about cleanliness.
I've come here almost three times on every vacation.
But today, I'm announcing my boycott of the restaurant I've loved for years.
I witnessed a very disgusting scene that no sane person would accept.
We're in the year 2025.
You see the pizza maker placing the ingredients without wearing gloves. Is that possible?!!!
He wasn't wearing a mask.
And I saw him coughing while preparing the pizza!!!
He was placing the Parmesan cheese with his hand,
and the ginger and chicken pieces.
Knowing that he was using his mobile phone before starting.
It's filth that no sane person would accept.
I looked at him in astonishment!!!
Accepting these scenes and this negligence is a crime against our health.
The cashier was kind and respectful, and she accepted my...
