The Sweet Escape Bakery & Cafe — Restaurant in Bali

My daughter's birthday was 28-Sep and she had turned 21 but we'd not been too satisfied with any bakery options that we've tried before. So I came across TSE (The Sweet Escape) on IG.

The staff communicated via WhatsApp and then called for better clarification of any necessary substitutions and delivery time preference. The communications were very professional and considerate.

My fav is German Chocolate and VERY difficult to find abroad and my daughter's fav is most things milk chocolate and burnt cheesecake. On 2-Oct-2025, I placed orders for: 1-German Chocolate & 4-Brownie Cheese Cake squares and they were readily delivered by 3-Oct-2025. Including delivery costs to Seminyak, my total was 650k (pretty reasonable).

When the cakes arrived, I shared portions with the co-living staff to get added feedback to submit. I decided to use a review rating scale of - High: 1 and Low: 5.

Choco Cheesecake: (Rating: Hi1/Low5) The base overpowered the cheesecake and didn't match airy texture. **Overall Rating: "3"

I chosed this bakery at first, to order my daughter's bday cake because of people's reviews. However my experience didn't say so. I was very disappointed with them. I ordered a bday cake with sushi decorations a week before my daughter's birthday, and I even put a down payment to make sure I was serious. So on my daughter's bday, I chatted the admin staff let them know I am about to pick the cake (around 2.30ish pm as I was still on my way from Banyuwangi), but how surprise I was when they asked me what kind of order I did? So I forwarded them my request form since a week before as well as the 50% DP bank transferred which they also had noticed a week before. They said sorry and explained that they didn't have the cake I ordered because the chef was sick for the last 2 days and got into the ER last night. Of course the sick condition, I could understand it, it can happen to anyone and is totally fine with me. What made me disappointed was they could call me earlier that day or even the day before, let me know the chef got sick and case closed I totally get it. I can find another cake in Denpasar , I don't have to go all the way to canggu for nothing! To solve the problem, they offered me another available cake they had, but I just lost my appetite...

I absolutely cannot give less than 5 stars. The cake was for the birthday of my boyfriend which is in February (a childsoul, haha because it's for his 20 years). I was looking for a good baker in my country before coming in Bali and didn't find one. Then I'm moved in June to Canggu and found TSE Bakery. I sent them a picture of what I wanted and I was stressed because I'm demanding. Finally I've got the cake this morning and I'm so happy. An amazing job was done here for the visual and the taste. My bf was, then, like a child when he saw it (and so I was). A big thank you again, don't hesitate to order any cake from them ❤️❤️❤️

Ps : on the second pic, the nose of the shark is a little bit flat because of the box and the delivery (free in all the Canggu area) but it was not pb at all for us, still...
