I stayed here about three years ago during a family trip to Bali. I originally posted a review describing our experience, only to be asked to take it down. After looking through recent reviews, I can clearly see this seems to be a pattern — the resort appears to routinely request the removal of negative reviews and then responds to criticism with defensiveness instead of accountability. That’s not how hospitality works.
During our stay, my sister and I got sick from the food provided. It was cold, unappetising, and the juice was so diluted it may as well have been water with a hint of citrus. I hadn’t thrown up in six years before that day. We were in Bali for a wonderful cause — doing charity work at a nearby school — but even that was marred by the resort’s behaviour. On the way to the school, we were stopped and pressured to remove our honest review. Excuse me? That kind of intimidation is shocking. No wonder they have a 4.7-star rating — if all the honest reviews are being scrubbed.
The staff member told us our review “ruins their image.” Well, that’s exactly the point: if your service isn’t up to standard, your rating shouldn’t hide it. Your guests shouldn’t be punished for telling the truth.
EDIT AFTER THEIR REPLY:
And here we are again, proving my point. I will not provide my name just to be publicly harassed. I was not attending school as a student — I was participating in a charity program. The tone and approach used in your response is incredibly unprofessional. When we stayed, there was ongoing construction that made getting into the resort almost impossible — yet none of this was disclosed to us. That part of the experience wasn’t fabricated — it happened.
Please do not twist the narrative. It's clear that you silence dissatisfied customers to protect your image. That isn’t hospitality — it’s manipulation. And frankly, it borders on fraud. Your response is exactly why I and others feel the need to speak out. Rather than addressing the concerns with professionalism, you've chosen to accuse me of lying and spam, simply because I’m anonymous. That’s deeply concerning.
Let me clarify: I am not Mr/Mrs W.W., and the fact that you’ve invented a name based on my initials or username is frankly bizarre. I’m under no obligation to provide my full identity in order for my experience to be valid. Many people travel in groups or families, and not every guest books under their own name. That’s basic hospitality understanding.
You say you’re “100% confident” in your property and service — and yet your first instinct is to deny, accuse, and deflect. I know exactly where I stayed. I don’t need to “check my booking” to know I got sick from the food, was asked to take down my review, and had a bad experience. That is not a mix-up.
If your establishment truly believed in your own quality, you would take feedback — even negative — with grace and use it to grow. Instead, your replies are hostile and dismissive. It says more about you than it does about me.
To other travelers: please read between the lines. Sometimes, it’s the way a business handles criticism that...
Read moreFrom the moment we arrived at Ubud Raya, tucked away in the peaceful village of Sayan (about a 15–20 min drive from central Ubud), we felt a deep sense of calm. The resort blends editorially styled contemporary design with traditional Balinese elements—soaring stone walls, elegant wood carvings, and lush greenery throughout the grounds
Our villa (100 sqm one‑bedroom) was enormous: a generous lounge, dining area, well‑equipped kitchen, and a private plunge pool surrounded by a serene garden. Separate tub and shower, plush linens, soft robes, and thoughtful amenities made every moment feel effortless and luxurious.
Every day brought lovely surprises: breakfast delivered to our villa, an afternoon tea, and complimentary bicycles for exploring the rice‑terraced countryside. We also joined a gentle yoga session and a class on crafting traditional Balinese offerings—both included in our stay
The Spa was a quiet haven, offering aromatherapy, reflexology, hot‑stone or deep‑tissue massages, and even a relaxing hot tub room. Perfect after exploring or just for pure relaxation.
The staff were truly exceptional—friendly, attentive without being intrusive, and always eager to help arrange tours or share local recommendations. We used the free shuttle service into Ubud centre, which ran a few times daily and made it easy to visit the palace, market, and Monkey Forest—without worrying about parking or traffic delays.
While the restaurant on‑site served decent Indonesian and Western food, some evenings we opted to explore nearby cafés in Ubud itself. It’s important to note there's little within walking distance, but that also means it's blissfully quiet and private.
Highlights:
Huge, immaculately maintained villas with full kitchens and private pools—ideal for families or couples seeking privacy A peaceful location surrounded by rice fields and village life, yet convenient to Ubud via shuttle Complimentary activities and thoughtful touches like afternoon tea and wellness classes Attentive, genuine service from a team dedicated to making your stay relaxed and memorable

Read moreMy recent stay at the Ubud Raya Resort in their 2-bedroom private pool villa was a wonderfully relaxing experience nestled in the tranquil heart of Ubud. If you're looking for a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature, this place is a gem.
The Villa: The villa was spacious, clean, and tastefully designed with a blend of modern amenities and traditional Balinese touches. Each bedroom had its own en-suite bathroom, and both rooms opened up to the pool area, offering beautiful views and easy access to the outdoors. The living and dining area was semi-open, adding to the tropical vibe, and the private pool was the highlight — clean, just the right size, and surrounded by lush greenery that gave a real sense of privacy.
Comfort & Amenities: The beds were comfortable with fresh linens, and the air conditioning in each room worked perfectly. The kitchen was equipped for light cooking, though we mainly used it for coffee and snacks. Wi-Fi was strong enough for work or streaming, though it dipped occasionally in the outdoor areas — to be expected in such a natural setting. The daily housekeeping kept the villa spotless.
Service: Staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely hospitable. Check-in was smooth, and the team helped us arrange transportation, massages in the villa, and even a floating breakfast (which was a lovely touch). The service felt personal and thoughtful without being intrusive.
Location: Situated just a short drive from central Ubud, the resort offers a nice balance — you're close enough to enjoy the town’s attractions, restaurants, and shops, but far enough to escape the bustle. The peaceful surroundings, rice fields, and birdsong in the morning made it feel like a true escape.
Food: The on-site restaurant served a decent variety of dishes, with both Western and Indonesian options. Breakfast was satisfying, though not particularly exceptional — you might want to explore cafes in central Ubud for more variety.
Final Thoughts: Overall, the 2-bedroom private pool villa at Ubud Raya Resort is ideal for families, couples traveling together, or small groups of friends. It offers a great balance of comfort, privacy, and value. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a serene...
