EDITED REVIEW:
After very bad experience on my first visit here (ordered tomahawk, price was not informed and meat was not shown to us. Asked them nicely thru WA and their admin had the balls to lie to my face saying that they showed us the meat and informed us of the price, which never happened), their operations manager reached out and invited us back to Altero. Had a nice chat with him and he explained the whole situation where they checked the CCTV and indeed our server did not bring the meat to our table. Really appreciate this gesture, this is really showed their sincerity and apology.
Therefore, this review is based on my second time here. Had their Partido Carne, Tasting Menu, along with some other alacarte menu.
Service was really good this time. Attentive and knowledgeable server, and also friendly (i do hope that it stays this way for all guests).
Food wise, everything was amazing. Can rarely find this level of quality food for the price they’re offering in bandung - for menu other than steak. For their steak, price is on the higher end. They explained how for certain items they can’t order in for quantity, hence the price.
Now here’s the food review:
Relaxing Peach Kombucha - not too sour, very smooth, hint of peach and earl grey. Perfect to start your meal. Might be my fav kombucha, not into sour kombucha tho
Apertif (Kombucha based drink) - more sour than relaxing peach kombucha but still smooth
Woodfire grilled brocolli - Brocolli grilled with a side of sour cream looking dip. Loved this as a side
Partido Carne (Meat tasting menu) - 3 kinds of meat (mixed japanese and USA). Best was 30 days dry aged striploin from Japan. It was nutty, not too gamey. They had a selection of sauces too - mushroom, black pepper, wafu, and chicken au jus (this was my fav!! Very concentrated chicken stock, a tad bit salty. Liked this because it doesnt overpower the taste of the meat. I like my meat plain). The meat here are dry aged at max 30ish days (kalau ga salah inget) to cater to the market that is still not too into meat that tastes like blue cheese.
Hokkaido Scallop - US Scallop pan seared paired with spicy sauce. Good pairing.
Tilapia with mushroom bed - Local tilapia pan seared on a bed of mushroom (shimeji i think). This was good and the mushrooms were umami.
Chicken and Mushroom - this one was quite mediocre. Grilled/panseared chicken with sauted mushroom
Seafood capelini - angel hair with clam jus, topped with a medley of seafood tempura. Tasted some spice to it and it leaned towards a clean japanese palate. Angel hair was cooked perfectly. Sauce went well with fried tempura seafood.
Strawberry sorbet - similar to hgen dazs strawberry sorbet. Not too sweet
Overall had a 180deg experience from my first time there. Just hope it stays...
Read moreMy recent visit to Altero Bistronomie was an overall fantastic dining experience, highlighted by impeccable service, a clean and welcoming atmosphere, and outstanding dishes.
First, the Service stood out. The staff were incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. They took the time to explain the menu and offered excellent recommendations without being intrusive. It’s clear they are passionate about providing a top-notch experience for their guests.
The Restaurant itself was spotless, with a modern yet cozy ambiance that made it feel both chic and comfortable. The cleanliness and attention to detail were evident in every corner, from the polished tables to the well-maintained restrooms.
As for the food, I started with the Dry Aged Fried Chicken, which was absolutely delicious. The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a deep, savory flavor from the dry aging process that made it stand out from typical fried chicken. The dipping sauce added a nice touch, complementing the chicken perfectly.
For the main course, I had the Chicken and Mushroom, which was equally impressive. The chicken was perfectly cooked—juicy and tender—while the mushrooms provided a rich, earthy flavor that paired wonderfully with the creamy sauce. The dish was comforting yet refined, making it a memorable part of the meal.
Overall, Altero Bistronomie exceeded my expectations. From the exceptional service and immaculate surroundings to the delicious dry aged fried chicken and chicken and mushroom dish, it was an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for both great food and a...
Read moreAmazing food and service! We came for brunch and ordered pan seared dumpling as appetizer, dry aged chicken and lamb rack as main, burnt pinneaple as dessert, natural kombucha, pina colada, and iced coffee as drink.
The pan seared dumpling is heavenly. Literally the best dumpling i ever have. You have to eat it in one bite to fully taste the amazingness of this dumpling. The crunch of the crumble, the hint of corriander, the freshness of the carrot and raddish. It just blew my mind.
The dry aged chicken is tender. The aging process enhance the umami flavor and the tenderness of the meat. Really appreciate the tone down of the flavor on the coating to give more highlight to the meat quality. However, presentation can be enhanced and the greasiness could be reduced. Appreciate the addition of rice that come with it. It helps to balance the dish. However, would better if there is another option apart from rice to pair with the chicken.
The lamb rack is good as well. The meat is tender, the ju is good, pickled cabbage is goood, the lamb croquet on the plate add good flavor to the dish. I think i also find small portion of peanut sauce on the plate that combines well with the meat.
Burnt pinneaple. We tried to eat is as a whole package, we slice it from top to bottom since it seems to have many flavor layer. I think some part of the dessert is a bit too bitter due to the imbalance of dark chocolate portion.
Kombucha and pina colada tasted good as well. The tea is fermented properly and have the right point of sourness. The pina colada is refreshing. The coffee have a good flavor with a proper balance of bitterness...
