This hidden gem on Braga Street isn't just a cafe; it's a legendary institution. Steeped in history, this old-school haven has been brewing smiles (and coffee) since grandma's era. Be prepared, though! Its fame precedes it. When I arrived at 7 am on a Sunday, there was already a line!
Insider Tip: For a smoother experience, ditch the 7 am snooze and aim for 6 am. After a valiant 30-minute waitlist battle, we finally conquered the line. Seating, however, was a bit of a free-for-all due to the enthusiastic crowd. But hey, that's part of the charm! We snagged a cozy spot in the outdoor, smoke-free area (bonus points for no second-hand smoke!).
The vibes? Pure hominess and cozy nostalgia. The interior is a delightful throwback to the old days, transporting you back in time. Now, onto the main event: the food! I embarked on a breakfast adventure, sampling their legendary srikaya (sugar-apple) roti, cheese roti, lontong sayur purnama (vegetable rice cake), strong black coffee, and perfectly-cooked half-boiled eggs.
Let me tell you, it was a culinary symphony! The bread boasted a delightful sweetness, perfectly balanced and not overpowering. The coffee was a bold and rich punch, a perfect morning wake-up call. Each bite and sip was a testament to their time-tested recipes.
A word to the wise: Parking is limited, so plan accordingly. Additionally, seating is a first-come, first-served situation, and tables fill up quickly.
(Bonus fun fact!) My hotel room overlooked this cafe, and even at 11 am, the line was still strong!
So, is this legendary cafe worth the wait and potential parking struggles? Absolutely! The combination of historic charm, delicious food, and strong coffee makes it a must-visit for any Braga Street explorer. Just be prepared to join the queue and savor the experience – it's a journey back in time, one delicious...
Read moreI went yesterday to this quite famous coffee shop, the shop it self was epic, old building but already renovated. The place is not so kids friendly, but good for bussines meeting or just catch up with friends/partner.
There are no parking directly, only public parking, prayer room&toilet is available, baby chair also available. Smoking dining room was in the middle of the cafe, so what's the point for the non-smoking room which too close to that area ?
I ordered Srikaya Bread, Iced Strawberry Milk, Iced Milk Tea, Water. The Cashier was friendly, but the waiter/waitress was bit rude. I ask my Tea, because what we eat was almost finish and the drink has not arrive. But they just give answer in rude way, They seems like they didn't get enough paid from their work. I'm sorry to say this, they shouldn't behavior like that if working in food and beverages service. The mood, The delicious of food& drinks, the place was good but because of those behavior makes the vibes becomes not really pleasant.
Talk about the price, it is quite pricey with the tax and service in total 15% of your bill. And the price each item in the menu was already expensive.
My suggestion if you may take, need to improve for the service, and price should be lower ( actually ) especially for the drinks it won't that costly unlike for the food, also please put exshaust for smoking area dinning , so the smoke will not fly to other non smoking area .
I will come back with business partner maybe if things...

The Lontong Cap Goleh is hearty and satisfying, offering a complex blend of savory, spicy, and slightly sweet flavors. Roti Bakar Strawberry is a delightful take on the traditional toasted bread. At Kopi Purnama, this dish features perfectly toasted bread slathered with a generous layer of sweet and slightly tangy strawberry jam. The toast is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, creating a pleasant contrast in textures. This dish is a perfect choice for a light breakfast or an afternoon snack, offering a nostalgic yet refreshing flavor. Bubur Ayam is a popular Indonesian breakfast dish, and Kopi Purnama’s version is a delightful representation.
