I’m not a first-timer here and had heard that the lady boss wasn’t very friendly or humble—but I decided to come anyway, thinking those are subjective opinions.
I came with my toddler and ordered the Monteverdi Fettuccine, specifically asking for no spice to the staff since it was for a child. Staff noted it but When it arrived, my toddler cried after tasting it and said it was spicy. I politely asked the staff to check with the kitchen, and they confirmed that the base sauce does indeed have bit spice in it.
Then the lady boss came over and pointed to the menu, saying it doesn’t mention chili, so it’s “not spicy.” I tried to convince my toddler to eat, even played the airplane game—but after a few bites, she cried again saying it was too spicy. One bottle of water was already half gone. I tasted it myself (my tongue had recovered from eating pizza with Tabasco earlier), and yes—there was a noticeable a bit of spicy aftertaste.
I told the lady boss again, as she confirmed me it wasn’t spicy. And to be Logically, a toddler wouldn’t lie about something like this even a bottle of water already half gone . Her response was, “So how? Cancel?” I politely suggested exchanging it for a carbonara instead, now that she clearly knew it was for a toddler.
When the carbonara came, unfortunately it had black pepper. She didn’t take it seriously requested to kitchen or how? Funny that She asked again, “So how?”-. I said it’s okay, I’ll just separate the pepper bits.
When we got the bill, the Monteverdi was still charged, even though the staff missed my request at first. kitchen admitted it had spice and my daughter cried twice from eating it. Instead of acknowledging this or apologizing, the lady boss just packed the Monteverdi to-go for me without saying a word, despite earlier asking “Cancel?” and me replying “Exchange.” That was pretty clear. I still tried the food again after I got home and it was indeed spicy at the end.
I don’t mind paying about extra around Rp200K—it’s not about the money. But after the way we were treated, I’m left with a bad impression. Ladyboss was so denial. Just something to...
Read moreThe food was absolutely terrible. Ordered the steak, and asked for medium rare, and got a huge shock when my steak came pretty much overcooked. Meat was insanely hard and had zero flavour, it was like they forgot to season it with salt and and pepper. Its only saving grace was the balsamic vinegar that was the "sauce" that added a bit of flavour to the dull dish. Not to mention it wasnt particularly cheap, and the portion given was so small.
My friend ordered a seafood pasta, and it came out really bland and watery, as usual no hint of salt or seasoning added to the pasta.
Quite sad that the best thing we had there was the tiramisu, which wasnt even that good because it was obviously premade before hand and not fresh. Would not recommend at all.
But the bar area was truly very pretty, thats why we thought the food could possibly taste good. oh well! very disappointed as it was our last meal in batam before heading back to singapore and we were all looking forward to a...
Read moreAttention to dear fellow commoners. Their price tag is a bit high here. Make sure you are prepared to dig your wallet a bit deeper.
Nice and cozy place to dine. The waiters are really friendly here. This can be plus points if you love to connect with others. But can be a minus points for people like me who just want to dine in peace without keep getting asked about the food.
They also have special menu - (not sure if it is on daily or weekly basis) - and on weekends. which is a really good reason for you to keep checking them out and try them.
Ordered pizza (which I forgot the name) and roasted porchetta here. Loved the pizza but not really into the porchetta. The dish itself is quite good but somehow doesn't feel special.
Vegetarian menu is available here, pork related dish is also labelled well. But If you're super picky about "contamination" (by meat or pork related food) then this place might not very well...
