We tried out this place while craving some sushi. The decorations were really nice and made us approach this shop.
However, once we're seated we realized that this might not be a good experience. The conveyor belt had sushi that were not fully covered. There were many plates and covers that appeared dirty and scratched up.
We took about 3 plates from the conveyor belt and 2 out of the 3 plates were questionable.
The wasabi was clumped up like play dough and there was no taste to it. Usually you'd feel the spiciness radiating at your sinuses but there was nothing. The soya sauce tasted watered down and it didn't add any taste to the sushi when dipped.
Ordered the following:
2)Salmon roll -Looked good but the rice was mushy -There was plenty of roe on the top of the sushi though so that was nice
Probably wouldn't come here again as there wasn't much that tasted good. The standard of food could be...
Read moreSushi Rio feels like an entry-level sushi restaurant, catering more to beginners than seasoned sushi lovers. Most of the menu leans heavily on cooked items, with limited raw sashimi options—something to note if you’re expecting traditional, fresh cuts of raw fish.
One major downside from our visits (yes, we gave it a second chance) is the lack of readiness. We arrived around 10 AM both times, and most of the sushi wasn’t available yet—only the basic items circulating on the conveyor belt. Even when the kitchen finally opened up, we were informed that salmon sushi, a staple, wasn’t available.
Service was inconsistent. We ordered refillable ocha, and while the staff refilled it twice, the third time we were abruptly pointed to the self-service station near the cashier, without explanation or friendliness. The staff lacked energy and warmth, which made the dining experience feel even more bland.
As for the food itself—it's just okay. Not great, not terrible. Affordable, yes, but the flavor and freshness were nothing to write home about.
I wouldn’t personally return. But if you’re on a tight budget or a student looking for a cheap sushi fix, Sushi Hiro might still be worth...
Read moreDo not ever come to sushi Rio at nagoya Hill shopping centre. If not the kids are eating, I would have left the restaurant immediately.
1st: many food are not avail when it was only 8.15pm - no eel, no noodles, no ramen, no salmon.
2nd: we were seated but asked to change table to conveyor belt table whenever it is available, the staff gave the table away when I questioned after seeing it - I thought I requested first? Had to wait for another available table.
3rd: ordered chicken katsu curry rice, specially mentioned do not want tartar sauce, but it came with tartar sauce. Informed them I had mentioned twice somemore I do not want tartar sauce on the chicken Katsu (once when I ordered, once when the waitress repeated order). The most ridic thing was they served the dish again, and flipped the chicken upside down, tartar sauce is at the bottom.
4th: 1 order (fried rice) we placed never arrived despite the order was repeated. We asked to order fried rice again, they said 'habis' (no more). How can fried rice be sold out? Isn't it rice and fry it?!?!?! So we wanted to order something else, but no more chicken, earlier already said many food habis.
5th: couldn't feel any...
