It was a disappointing experience I had with the restaurant.

I had in the past visited the restaurant, and the experience is above average. The key to a successful dish is based on two main variables. The cooking style of the chef and the ingredients of the food.

I firmly believe that a restaurant like Wey Wey will not harm a diner's experience, but last night is really not what to expect.

My friends and I have made selections on the fish, prawn, and crab. We have made the choice of Chilli Crab but stress to make it mild, as most of us are unable to take spicy food. Even the waitress took note of it and wrote it down.

When the Chilli Crab is served, we were surprised to find it super spicy hot, we called the waitress who checked the order confirming instructions were written as mild, and we have to send the dish back. Since most of us are unable to eat it.

Expecting the dish to be cancelled or a new Chilli Crab to be made, a newly cooked Chilli Crab was sent to our table. We pretasted the sauce just to make sure it was of mild sauce, and thought everything would be fine. However, when we bite into the crab meat, it is super spicy hot!

It is obvious that someone in the restaurant thinks it is ok to reuse the crab, which was cooked in the earlier spicy sauce, and now cooked in the mild sauce.

The overall experience that each of the diner thinks is a rather degraded feeling of the restaurant unable bear the cost of losing two crab ingredients, or the chef in his unique mind think that the somehow the spicy hot sauce in the crab meat will "disappear" after cooking over a mild sauce.

When the bill comes, the invoice still bills us on the crab even after I have voiced the issue. The only reply I got is "Sorry." As we have prearranged events, we have to leave the restaurant and unable to escalate on the spot.

The important part is if instructions were ignored, or dinner has allergies to some ingredients or to think the restaurant will reuse everything in the kitchen... these thoughts are unimaginable. A "sorry" is acceptable?

I will not deny that in business, people do use the streets smart way of dealing business. In the matter of placing something into my mouth, I will have to take more precautions and avoid visiting places, which might make a serious health issue for myself. This makes me question further what steps would such a place will take to maximize profit and minimize losses.

For now, I will never revisit Wey Wey Seafood as I find these actions are unacceptable in a serious...

This place was actually recommended by my family and friend. This place seems to be not interested in earning money from the non malays. Malay speaking customers who came later than us got served way faster than us. Funny how the cleaners' service is way better than the staff in charge of helping with orders. First we stand around tables with no one to assist for ard 10 mins because most tables and chairs were wet after a heavy rain. After a cleaner finally bring us to a dry table, we waited another 15mins with no one helping us to order though we have asked a few waitresses to help us, but we were asked to wait repeatedly. When a Chinese speaking waitress finally done with the table beside us, she just walked away without helping though we repeatedly asked for her help cause we couldn't speak malay. we were only got the attention of the staff when we were about to leave without ordering. 1 kg crab (2 crabs) 350000, pan Tofu 60000, salted egg squid 950000, and gong gong costed us 780000. They charge for plain water too at 7000 each 600ml bottle, rice 7000 per plate. Spent total of 718300 rupiah. Even just cutleries needed 15mins to be served. Our crabs were served even later than the table that ordered later than us (they ordered two types of crabs while we only ordered 1). The seafood was fresh and Tofu was good too but the portions of the food were pathetic. Gong gong was served without toothpicks for us to dig out the meat (isn't it common sense?). We reached before 6pm to avoid the crowd, but after all those waiting, we only got to eat after 730pm. Waited 1 hr for just 4 dishes. Maybe we just weren't as lucky as what most people reviewed. Will definitely ask my non malay speaking friends and family to avoid this place at all cost, unless they wanna try their luck. I would recommend Barelang seafood instead, food was good, staff...

This place would have gotten 5 stars if it wasn't for how disorganised they were as well as the long wait. While I understand its crowded it would have been great if they knew what I actually ordered.

I came in at around 7pm and had to get off my seat and get someone to take my order, this took a good 5 times to finally get someone at our table.

10 min pass and we got our drinks, also when they say bottle they meant 1 liter and not 500ml which I assume how it should have been.

30 mins passed no sign of food then our main dish arrived the pepper crab which we never ordered. Given the long wait me and my friend just couldn't be bothered to get it changed. Another 20 mins passed and from now every 5 mins a dish comes to our table that isn't ours. We had to ask them what is this? And the staff would ask us oh you didn't order this? Duh.

Finally all our dishes came but wait, we don't have rice and again we had to go around a few staff just to get rice.

After we were done we had to wait once again at the counter just to pay. To be honest at one point I just wanted to walk away and not pay since no one at the counter was bothered when we were standing right in front.

Seriously how hard is it to be organised and know what people actually ordered vs. coming up with random dishes asking if we ordered it? How annoying is that?

If you able to own such a large space to serve food then you should also be able to upgrade at least to have more technology to assist you. Stop using papers to take orders and then keep going to your customers asking if they ordered this and that. It's 2019 for goodness sakes.

Get a tablet or something to ease orders at least. Check or uncheck if dishes have been served or not. Isn't that...

Guess it’s a meh. :( In all honesty, this place is a tourist trap - I visited because of google reviews. My biggest issue with them: Dishonesty & hygiene. The staffs were dishonest about seafood weight, service was meh, food is on the pricier side for Batam standard, and the overall experience was disappointing for me. I was charged by per crab, claiming they weighed min. 400g each. But I was shocked when my two crabs turned out to be tiny, at best a total of 500g for BOTH. The biggest claw and body were the size of a sharing spoon (see attached photo) (I didn’t have such issues in other seafood restaurants I went in Batam). Despite multiple confrontations, they stuck to their story. Insisted they are 800g and got me paying for something I didn’t even receive. I was speechless. See pictures and judge urself. The pricing is steep for Batam — crab pricing for ref: 1kg at Rp 440k—but other nearby seafood places like Sei Enam (better atmosphere w aircon and honest business) and Love Seafood (slightly further drive away) offer much better quality for less. A grab driver even mentioned that the head chef moved to another restaurant, which likely explains the drop in quality. Taste-wise, it was truly alright only - really nothing fantastic like the reviews — steam fish was fresh at least. Hygiene was questionable: I found metal debris from a scrub in my bitter gourd, and the staff’s only response was “noted.” As though it’s quite common. Perhaps it’s just my bad day, but if you want to avoid such mishaps like mine, i can guarantee you there are better options nearby. Wished I read the lower rated reviews earlier, but now I have just realized I am not the only victim with similar experience.

There are several popular seafood places on the island, but we decided on this one for the evening's meal. When we arrived, it was only about half full, which raised a little concerns since it's a Saturday night. However, as we were ordering, more people started streaming in. We ordered the deep fried garlic chicken, the baby squid. sambal lala, salted egg prawns, steamed scallops, hotplate tofu, steamed grouper, and fried kway teow. We also ordered white rice for the table, which came in a bucket. The fried garlic chicken was quite fragrant, but was full of bones. We were really hoping for boneless parts. The baby squid was absolutely disappointing. The squid were too tiny, the serving was small, and it wasn't fried to a crisp. The sambal lala was a good match with the white rice, and the serving size was quite generous. The sambal wasn't overly spicy, but yet was flavourful. The salted egg prawns tasted just nice, but they were tiny shrimp, unlike the big prawns you get from seafood restaurants in Singapore. Imagine them being about a third of the size of the tiger prawns we get in Singapore. The steamed scallops were really fresh and done to perfection. There was enough gravy from the steaming as well. The hotplate tofu and kway teow goreng were just normal, but the grouper was really fresh and sweet. The amount of ginger in it was just enough to rid of any fishy smell, but not too much to spoil the taste of the fish and gravy. All in all, I would say this is a touristy place and there must be better seafood places on the island. Price wise isn't really cheap either.

I am writing to provide feedback on a recent dining experience that my group of 11 people had at your restaurant. Upon visiting your establishment, we encountered several issues that left us feeling quite disappointed. One of the main challenges we faced was the lack of pricing on the menu. When we tried to inquire about the prices of the dishes we were interested in, the staff member taking our order seemed to lack patience and responded in a manner that made us feel uncomfortable. As a result of this, we made a conscious decision to avoid ordering any seafood items such as crab or fish as we assumed they would be more expensive. To our surprise, when it came time to settle the bill, we were shocked by the high prices we were charged despite opting for what we believed to be more budget-friendly options. Additionally, the portion sizes were considerably smaller than we had anticipated for the prices we paid. This experience has left a negative impression on us, and we are hesitant to return to your restaurant in the future. As a group of 11 individuals, we value transparency and fair pricing when dining out, and unfortunately, we did not feel that these expectations were met during our visit.
