I visited the restaurant on a Saturday night, around 8-9 pm-ish. The tables were full, so I had to wait for availability.
Thankfully there was N.O.B cafe right in front of it, so I could wait there while I get my coffee.
It wasn't a long wait, I think 15 minutes then they called us inside.
The food was quite good, the service was great, initiatives of the staff was something I really appreciated.
We ordered: Wagyu Butler's Steak This was quite nice. Sadly didn't get that "oomph" that hits the spot, but it was still a decent steak.
Charred-Caesar Salad Veggies were fresh, tha balance of the caesar dressing, cheese tuile, balsamic, lettuce, croutons was just perfect (there was some bacon bits too, but I didn't get much of it) - portion is huge, so this is definitely fulfilling.
Tuscan Salmon Loved the salmon! (compared to the steak). Great balance here as well with the fried/dried (?) kale, radish, mashed potato, and the creamy sauce being put together with the perfectly cooked salmon (it wasn't dry at all). This was lovely.
Dessert: They have a complementary ice cream with a cone here. Since I wasn't in the mood for ice cream, I had an additional molten lava cake (which is an add-on, plus it's not in the menu, so do check with the staff). Molten lava cake wasn't as runny as I usually get them in restaurants, but it still have great flavor. Was a bit too sweet for my partner, but I didn't mind it (comes back to your own preference - mind you, it's not heavily sweet but the sugary taste can linger if you don't like sweets).
It was a good first Butler's...
Read moreAn overly hyped restaurant.
Let’s talk about the food first. Utterly mediocre, a standard char grilled steak, the meat isn’t that tender and doesn't even have marbling, but you guys have the audacity to claim it’s a MB7 Wagyu, well let’s assume it’s a Wagyu for our sake.
The menu doesn’t have many varieties, if you guys want to make a specialized restaurant with specialized dishes then do it properly.
What’s weird that is they serve you the main course (which is the steak) very very fast but it took more than 15 minutes to prepare a mediocre taste side dishes, and even worse one of my side dishes didn’t even show up, and the dish that didn’t show up is mashed potatoes, how hard is it to make a bloody mashed potatoes?!
The sautéed mushroom, spinach, and others doesn’t have any unique taste. It does take a lot of time to prepare but, it tastes like an overnight leftover meal.
And worst of all the foods are served cold~ wow you guys are unbelievable.
The staff are friendly though but some of the staff must attend a special class for hospitality. And the place is okay, the plating is good.
Verdict, Maybe Butlers Steak wants to make a specialized steak themed restaurant but I’m sorry with this quality of meat and the rather unpleasant serving time is well, poor. If you guys wants people to flock to your restaurant then fix this issues.
I’ve been to many expensive restaurant, although this place isn’t expensive, spending a 100k rupiah on this place would be a...
Read moreGreat ambience but hate that they didn’t accept reservation. You have to be on a waitlist.
We ordered the platter consisted of medium cooked steak, ribs, slices of too well done beef, prawns with garlic toppings, baked asparagus, and potato pillows (kinda like deep fried mashed potatoes). The best part of the platter was the medium cooked beef (don’t know that’s the wagyu or the US prime - just look at the photo - it’s the reddish slices). Wish we ordered personal steak instead. The ribs and the other slices of beef steak were over cooked and hard.
We also ordered side dishes: the garlic rice was delicious (recommended), the corn kernels were tasty, mushroom was also recommended, but the creamy spinach was too largely sliced and not creamy enough for me.
They also gave us free homemade ice cream whisked right in front of you with edible dry ice and seasonal flavor.
You can also order menu from Skinny Dip which is next door (their main specialty is subs which is bread filled with fillings) but it has to be like 25% of what you order at Butler. We ordered the beef sub with apple coleslaw (recommended) and Coffee Pudding with Truffle Ice Cream which tasted great and unique.
Price is expected for such menu and place. This is ain’t a cheap joint but not over...
