NEVER set foot in Coffeenatics if you do not want to have the worst dine-in experience of all time!
Entered the cafe and asked the waitress if we were able to order self-pick up drinks from Gojek. She confirmed that we were able to but it will be served in takeaway cups. Hence, we told her that we would order another cake (40k+) to dine-in and she proceeded to key in our order.
5 minutes later, that same waitress told us that we were not allowed to dine-in even after ordering food. What about the cake I ordered? “Makan di mobil aja” (translate to just eat at your car) and proceeded to shoo us away out of the restaurant in a very rude manner.
Yes, Coffeenatics has a policy of not being able to dine-in if you ordered self pick up drinks. BUT, we asked confirmation from the waitress TWICE and she did not mention this policy clearly. Who in the right mind will continue to order self-pick up drinks if they were told not to dine-in? Is it normal for waitress to kick customers out of the cafe AFTER ORDERING FOOD AND DRINKS? She could have asked us to order another drink but instead chose to kick customers out instead. The other baristas heard this convo but did not give any comment, nor did they try to prevent her from kicking us.
My family used to frequent Coffeenatics but after this incident, we BLACKLISTED Coffeenatics and will proceed to tell our friends and family how poor...
Read moreLovely atmosphere, multiple floors, cash, credit cards and e-wallet options accepted. Quiet ambiance (although the pleasant instrumental music can't be turned down or off). Staff are pleasant and responsive but not much English spoken here.
Coffenatics offers a variety of Western-style dishes as well as Indonesian and Southeast Asian favorites. Food is fresh and delicious and different from much of the other fare in Medan. They have prix fixe lunch specials that combine an entree with a coffee or tea drink (some options incur a small surcharge).
Their pasta is quite tasty and not as spicy as some places in Medan. Their spring rolls are lightly fried egg-roll wraps that aren't overly greasy and appropriate for sharing. Their Turkish Pide was a surprising treat, spiced with Mediterranean herbs. The beef option (they also offer mushroom or cheese) included finely diced bell peppers, onions and cheese wrapped in a flavorful dough and baked together. The meat was ground beef and very flavorful. I plan on enjoying this again and again!
Their menu is extensive both for food and drinks (juices, teas, and of course coffee!) and is a good option if you can't decide between Eastern or Western fare. Prices are slightly higher than some places but so is the quality. ...

Negatives: The Aussie breakfast food was really really bad. Tried the baked egg and beef hash-the beef is so watery and clearly from canned. We verified this with the server who confirmed with the chef it is canned. Horrid (pictured below).
The mushroom toast was oddly sweetened in the sauté and missing the advertised feta. When asked about the missing feta they brought me a tiny plate of frozen feta…. After I pointed that out they brought me a teenier plate of microwaved feta.
The bread served with both toast and hash breakfast was also very cheap and very dry. For these prices (high in Medan) maybe they could bake their own breads fresh?
My recommendation to the owner is to concentrate only with the coffee concept- as it’s well executed and the baristas know what they are doing. Maybe just offer a croissant from your pastry chef because the experience is ruined with these sad...
