I would rate this place 3.5 stars. They brought variety dishes (small bowl) to your table. Then you pick you want to eat and they will take away the one you dont want to eat right after you done with eating. We had spicy stirfried tofu, eggplant and chillies. We thought it was bean but it was all chillies green and red. Still tasty but bloody spicy. Next dish was goat curry. Too salty would avoid it Then the next dish was another veggies. The staff told us it was cassava leaves but i think it was katuk. Then, we had two pieces of fried chicken. So 3 dishes plus 2 pieces of chicken (and two ice teas) costed us 233k. Pretty steep for a dish. Once in life time is enough. What really erk me was there is a young lady staff where she didnt even bother to bring or check our drinks order and then she didnt even bring our bill even we asked for it. Had to ask another staff to chase up our drinks because we were sweating profusely for the spicy food. She just walking around trying to look pretty, walking like shes in a catwalk, and seemed to keen on flirt with other staff instead of doing her job properly. I would not have her as my staff....
Read moreGaruda Nasi Padang Medan delivers a delicious and authentic Sumatran dining experience. The highlight is their hidang (serve-and-choose) style, where an array of flavorful dishes like daging sapi (tender beef rendang), ayam goreng (crispy fried chicken), and tempeh terung sambal (spicy eggplant with tempeh) are presented at your table. The beef rendang is especially rich and well-spiced, while the sambal adds a nice kick.
A thoughtful touch is the small bowl of water for handwashing, making it easy to enjoy the meal the traditional way. Pairing the food with jus alpukat (creamy avocado juice) or jus jeruk (refreshing Kintamani orange juice) balances the bold flavors and tones down the spice and salt.
Service is friendly, though it can get a bit slow when crowded. Portion sizes are fair, and the overall taste is satisfying. A few dishes could be warmer upon serving, but the flavors make up for it.
Could be on the pricier side depending on your selection of dishes. Theres an open area and also an air-conditioned room to cut the heat outside.
Great for a casual meal with friends or family— was fun to tryout...

The menu is quite complete if you are into Padangnese (one of Indonesian's ethnic) food. Recommended dishes here are Rendang, either beef or chicken one are both great. The Padangnese fried chicken also yummy. Most of the dishes are a bit spicy to really spicy. So watch out when you are trying to snap the spicy ketchup to your mouth. Hope you get used to it. Once you do, you'll be addicted to the food here. Well, I always considering it, a high end...
