Jawanese homestyle, absolutely fresh, full of locals so the turnover is constant. The staff is classic dignified, eternally happy, smiling, friendly Muslim Balinese. Learn how to order in Bahasa Indonesia! They love it.
Never yet have had an issue or suspected hygiene concern with the food. Inexpensive, tasty, spicy for sure, tons of vegetarian and or meat dishes and soups. Order a fruit smoothie! This place is also a market ... veggies, fruit, canned, dry and packaged goods, bulk water, hand premix 2 stroke scooter fuel in glass bottles:) A few notes - There can be street traffic noise, occasional motor vehicle fumes, maybe a sewer whiff, and you will see a rat or 2 scurrying about the floor. Bali is full of rats. So no biggie, but this is not the Hilton. If you are ok with very typical streetside, open, local warung style setting serving excellent, authentic, well prepared, fresh, low cost, nutritious, varied dishes, you must visit Warung Jawa...
Read moreDon't expect happy servers or clean surroundings, but this is pretty authentic Javanese food (in Bali). You get a big variety here and will see lots of locals and tourists. by western standards, the place is filthy and the hygiene of the food very questionable with flies crawling all over the food and dust and exhaust coming in from the road. Read moreI dont know if this food stall still operate 24 hrs. I used to came here when I had my work in Sanur, its the only place to go when there's no other food stall open at late night.
But it only for my last options. Although they got quite a lot menus, some of them isn't really fresh. I have experienced a bad stomach problem a day after eating in here few times.
Should you really want to go here, dont go at night. Best time is for breakfast around 9 AM when everything is freshly cooked.
I have to say that cleanliness is not their priority. I have been six years in Sanur, yet I didn't see improvement on it. Still the same layout, groceries at the back, food stall in front side, and dining area that you can't say its comfortable.
Well, sometimes you can see rats... im sorry but that...
