Warung Baby Monkeys — Restaurant in Denpasar Selatan

The only reason this place has such high ratings is from tourists who do not know what a real warung is!

We have been trying all kinds of different warungs, mostly traditional, and got stung by this one.

The food was below average, I ordered the Babi Gula Bali and the sauce was basically curry powder and my wife ordered the Kare Ayam Chicken and it tasted exactly the same except hers was WAY too heavy on the curry powder.

Portions are also pretty dismal on both of our dishes considering the higher than average price, kids Mie Goreng was a decent portion. Other warungs we have been to on our two week trip around Bali have been huge in comparison to these meals and were a fraction of the price.

Our kids Mie Goreng was the only thing that was remotely close to a traditional Indonesian dish and even that was average.

Staff were lovely and it was busy and the food came quick. They also kept feeding our kids prawn crackers whilst we waited which was really nice of them as they could tell they were hungry.

That said, that was the only shining light on a valued meal out. We should have known when we saw so many Caucasian tourists what we were entering into...but kids were hungry so tried to give it a go.

If you want a tourist hotspot that is nothing close to cultural (taste or atmosphere)...this is your place. If you are looking for something that will give you tastes and flavours of...

I went to this place because of the 4 and 5 star ratings this place has received, I cannot report the same positive experience. I went to this place for breakfast this morning and unfortunately what was served up to me was not fit for human consumption. Simple eggs and bacon ordered with toast was served cold, eggs were disgusting with broken shells in them, the bacon came out as two revolting sausages and the toast had not even seen a toaster. I was served a coffee so black and grainy that the twice requested milk couldn't save it! I love my food, but I had to leave this place with most of the meal untouched. in this restaurant is always crowded, you need to have good luck to get a free table. I visited the restaurant twice, first time for a drink and now I had dinner. to be honest, the food was nothing special, but I like the atmosphere of this restaurant, the decoration with Boby Marley and especially ... the great personal. when I was in the restaurant a second time, I dropped my wallet with money, cards and passport under the table. I found out first the next day I don’t have my wallet and returned to the restaurant to see if the wallet was found. personal immediately knew and gave me the wallet with everything that was there.I was very happy that I found everything and that there are honest people here....
