Sushi Tei has always been my favorite sushi chain, and I typically visit the Pakuwon Solo Baru Mall branch, where the food consistently impresses me. This was my third visit to the Colombo branch, with previous visits in 2019 and 2020. Unfortunately, I’d like to share some feedback from this latest experience.
While the food on the conveyor was satisfactory and I enjoyed the salmon maki as usual, I found the chuka idako to be a bit disappointing. Just last week, I visited the Pakuwon Solo Baru branch, and I noticed a distinct difference in quality. I understand that portion sizes are determined by weight, but I believe that food presentation deserves equal attention.
I have filled out surveys via your website and the restaurant tablet at Sushi Tei Pakuwon Mall Solo Baru multiple times, and there is often a question regarding food presentation, indicating that it is a matter of concern for your team. Upon reviewing the attached pictures, I wonder if they convey the same appeal as one would expect from a restaurant of your reputation. Consistency across branches is important, and I experienced similar issues with the salmon hana ikura as well. Additionally, one of your team members confirmed that both dishes served are considered standard. Given this information, could we explore the possibility that the standards at Pakuwon Mall Solo Baru align differently than those at this branch? Ultimately, the decision is yours to make.
Sushi Tei remains my favorite, but I may reconsider visiting the Colombo branch in the future. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope you view this feedback as a positive suggestion for...
Read moreVisited Sushi Tei Yogyakarta for the first time because of the reputable chain brand name and good experiences at other restaurants. My cousin and top actress from the Netherlands wanted sushi so we went in at around 21.00 p.m. Some 5 minutes after our order arrived while we were having our sushi boat of IDR 500.000 we were told by a lady waitress to pay the bill IDR 821.000 upfront as they wanted to make up the daily revenue report.
What the...this can't be REAL?! Upon placing our orders the waitress should have mentioned that they were about to close soon and given us a choice. Of course, she apologised several times but why apologise for something that is inexcusable. Why do I have to be bothered with whatever explanation was given. Since when do customers have to pay their dinner bill in advance? I paid. Usually I do so by creditcard and PIN. However, this time nothing was asked and I had put my signature.
Much worse my foreign guests both lamented that the rice was very salty and the sushi tasted far from fresh. Now I must admit to me it was just fine, but i have been living in Indonesia for a while and quite likely I have lowered my standards.
Another thing was the icy temperature indoors. I was fine but the guests were cold. The oca tea is usually refilled but no one offered.
Overall, a very expensive and unsatisfactory dining experience at at Sushi Tei Colombo Gejayan in Yogyakarta with resto management who clearly lost the clue... Very disappointing....
Do not go there after...
Read moreEverything I ordered was frozen and then heated up before being served. The fried salmon skin was insanely greasy. I felt by blood coagulate with oil and cholesterol. The takoyaki was slime-like and vile. The sashimi was still somewhat frozen (shouldn't be frozen in the first place) and what was supposed to be the most delicious and expensive piece of fish on our plate, Toro, was the most horrendous and disgusting thing I laid my tongue on there.
It tasted like I was biting into a wet diaper. I then had to raise a complaint to the manager where he informed me on their food code and policies. I understood but I was still not willing to pay an outstanding amount for cold, slimey cardboard that I had to spit out into a napkin.
I was so upset to order my favourite dishes to be disappointed in the most devastating manner.
I will give a generous three stars because the manager on duty took time to explain their food policies and remove the items from out bill. I left paying for my wife and I's iced green tea and salmon skin.
Thank you for your time and effort, but I feel mislead because the ambiance was fit for small gatherings and dates on a warm evening. My wife was so upset and ashamed at herself to have led me to my almost-very-expensive, unpalatable, birthday dinner.
I won't come again nor should consumers that expect decent sushi but I understand that this restaurant may just aim towards a...
