Antipodean is definetely our favourite restaurant for breakfast in Jakarta. We love everything here, driving every Sunday from Menteng to Kemang to treat ourselves once a week with breakfast outside.
The healthyish people amongst us find fresh juices and smoothies of every taste on the menu as well as scrambled egg with feta on grainbread, oatmeal, fresh fruit salad and muesli with yoghurt.
In addition, Antipodean serves you treats like French Toast with caramalized bananas and bacon, Indonesian or American breakfast combinations etc.
The coffee is great - as common in Jakarta - authentic Indonesian coffee with coffee art if you order a coffee speciality with milk. You can find Matcha latte or turmeric latte as well. Big plus: Soymilk and low fat milk are available too. Antipodean offers lunch, cakes and snacks as well, but have not tried it so far.
The service is awesome. Very friendly staff, very fast service, taking special wishes and dietary restrictions into account. Their English is very good, we have never had misunderstandings.
Regarding the location, Antipodean is a comfortable restaurant and coffee shop. Located in Kemang near Hero Supermarket, it offers tables insinde anf outside, not too much A/C (more fans). The menu is written on the left wall like on a blackboard. Very innovative idea of a contactless menu!
There are some little wild flowers on every table, the store is very clean and has a toilette for customers.
Highly recommended place, especially for breakfast and coffee meetings. Food and Drinks are always prepared with love and taste great. We were never disappointed here and we appreciate the menu's big variety, especially the offers for health-conscious or vegan people!
Btw, there is also an Antipodean branch in KL and Manila. We tried the one in Malaysia and had the exactly...
Read moreThis café is an embarrassment to the word hospitality. I had my dogs tied outside in the parking lot, under the hot sun — not inside, not disturbing anyone. I politely asked for a bowl of water for them, something any decent café would offer without hesitation.
The staff told me they “don’t have bowls.” I asked how that’s possible — how do people take away soups if you don’t have bowls? Suddenly, they “found” one — a paper bowl, handed to me empty. I had to fill it myself from the toilet. Absolutely disgraceful.
The food was just as bad — bland, overpriced, and poorly served. My girlfriend’s meal arrived much later than mine, so we couldn’t even eat together. It’s clear their food quality has dropped drastically.
Then came the last insult: they added a pumpkin soup takeaway I never ordered to my bill. When I pointed it out, the lady in the picture simply looked away — no apology, no explanation.
If this is their idea of customer service, they shouldn’t be in the business at all. Not pet-friendly, not customer-friendly, and not worth your time. Do yourself a favor — go to the café next door, where the owner is actually friendly...

I am a regular here, love the food and everything. Then I started ordering delivery by calling the restaurant.
Waitress was taking the phone with a loudspeaker, how did I know? Well... she couldn't hear me and I couldn't hear her and that was frustrating and it wasn't once or twice IT WAS EVERY TIME Caused by that bad experienced, I asked for WhatsApp number. I ordered on WhatsApp But what happened? They didn't even read it. I had to call and made sure that they got everything right. I gave them a benefit of the doubt by waiting for 30 mins without calling, was trying to see if they'd tell me when the order is ready for me to pick up. But no, I had to call AGAIN and they said "Ordernya sudah siap sejak tadi bu"?????? WHY in the world did YOU chat me in WhatsApp right when the order was ready?
Very not professional.
I did lots lf these to bigger cafes and restaurant (Mind you , they are busy and have lots of customers also) but never like this
I am traumatized, my husband wanted your food but I refused because of this mind of service ick me. Fix this and hopefully...
