This is actually my 3rd time to Mamma Rosy and the prior experiences were worth 5 stars, which is why I give it 4 stars and not fewer. This time was a bit rough.
The food is mostly very good, the staff are always pleasant, and I think they've done a good job with the atmosphere. I enjoy this place and will go again for sure.
This 3rd visit, things were not so good. I don't know if there was something going on with the kitchen or if the orders were confused, but for some reason, we all got our entrées at different times. And not just a couple minutes. It was substantial.
When we placed our order, the waiter asked if we wanted everything to come out at the same time. We said yes, bring it all at once except the salad. My wife's meal came out about 10 minutes before my son's, which we thought was weird. My meal was almost 45 minutes later! My wife and my son finished dinner before my meal was even brought to the table. No explanation was given, no warning given about cook times, just a long wait. If it's going to take a lot longer to prepare one dish VS the other, this should be indicated on the menu or at least mentioned by wait staff at the time they take the order.
This is something you guys need to get solved. If you have things on your menu that require more time, make sure the customer is informed. Most often, they will change their order to something that takes about the same time as the others. Alternatively, don't start prepping the faster meals until the slower meal is closer to being ready. This way, it's all brought together.
Also, take the apple crumble off the menu. Everything on your menu is delicious except the apple crumble. Your other deserts are great, you don't need this one. It's not worthy of...
Read moreA lot of my friends have recommended me to visit this Italian restaurant. So naturally, about a month ago my friends (it was also their first time) and I came with very high expectations. It took a long while for us to be seated and another 45 minutes to call the waiter as they were too busy dashing here and there. I ordered Carbonara with homemade tagliatelle which came out very salty. Both of my friends tasted it too, and they think it was very salty. I asked the waiter if that is how it's supposed to taste in this restaurant, and she kindly took it back to the kitchen. We waited for an hour or so and there was still no sign of my pasta coming back to our table. Both my friends have finished their own pasta by then. We managed to get the attention of another waiter and asked her if they have perhaps forgotten my pasta. She went back to the kitchen and ask the cook about my order. Instead of getting an answer from the waiter, the cook beats her to it. He yelled at me from the kitchen, saying "tell her, don't complain! there is only one cook in here!!". That was extremely rude. Half an hour later my pasta finally came out. I wasn't in the mood anymore to enjoy the dish. A shame, really. We paid quite a lot for a really bad service. I won't come back, nor will I recommend it to others. The only positive points I can say is that they have a nice homey decor and a...
Read moreMamma Rosy is a warm, inviting Italian restaurant that blends the relaxed charm of Bali with the rustic authenticity of home-style Italian cooking. Nestled in the heart of Kemang, the setting feels like you’ve stepped into a tranquil Balinese garden — leafy, breezy, and intimate — but the flavors transport you straight to a small trattoria in Italy.
The menu doesn’t try to overwhelm you with complexity. Instead, it offers simple, well-executed classics made with care. From the homemade pasta to the slow-cooked sauces, every dish seems to carry a sense of family tradition. The gnocchi is a standout — light, tender, and bathed in rich, flavorful sauce. The pizzas, baked with a nicely blistered crust and generous toppings, also hit the spot.
What makes Mamma Rosy special is that it doesn’t try to impress with showy plating or trendy fusion. Instead, it leans into comfort and familiarity — the kind of flavors that feel honest and satisfying. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and while the pace is unhurried, it suits the cozy atmosphere perfectly.
It’s not the place for fine dining or big statements, but if you're looking for a heartfelt meal in a setting that feels both homey and a little bit tropical, Mamma Rosy is a gem. Great for date nights, family dinners, or catching up with friends over good...
