Best Italian Restaurant in Jakarta!!!

Basilico is (one of) our most favourite restaurant in Jakarta and I would recommend the food to everyone! It is really authentic Italian. Not too much ingredients with a maximum of taste! We love the pasta and the eggplant parmigiana, it's my absolute favourite parmigiana di melanzane in the entire world! Perfectly balanced, not too saucy, not to dry, little spicy, little cheesy, full tomato-aroma. It's a good portion, but you do not feel full or overeated afterwards. The price is justified. I always eat the Parmigiana with a green salad as appetizer. The dressing is super as well, really fresh, never had problems with green salad. You can taste pepper and lemon with the chance to an upgrade with a topping like tuna or chicken (like you can choose it for pasta). You can taste the love in every single dish.

The variety of food is also big, from appetizers to fresh salads, pasta, pizza, secondi and desserts (pistacchio lava cake is just amazing!). Of course, there are vegetarian and vegan options as well.

Every table gets a bread basket, olive oil and balsamic vinegar complimentary. Really good service, you are feeling very welcomed from arriving until leaving the restaurant.

The location is not the nicest one. You are dining in the Gandaria city mall. There is an outside area to dine in, but it is right next to the mall entrance. So not very romantic and cozy, but you can have a view on shopping people and combine your visit with a shopping tour of course.

Basilico at Gandaria City is a fantastic spot for authentic Italian cuisine! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the warm ambiance and elegant decor, making it a perfect place for both casual and special occasions. The food was outstanding—fresh ingredients, rich flavors, and beautifully presented dishes. I tried their homemade pasta, which was cooked to perfection, and the thin-crust pizza had just the right balance of crispiness and flavor. The burrata salad was also a highlight, fresh and creamy with a great mix of textures. Service was excellent but I'll give it 4 stars! The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, making great recommendations. The wait time was minimal, even though the restaurant was quite busy. There’s a reason why Basilico has been around this long.

Their complimentary starters are great compared to some Italian restaurants. I ordered their pizza quattro formaggi, their crust is crispy yet soft and they’re not stingy with the tomato sauce and cheese. I normally eat my pizza with tobasco (i know, it’s a crime) but with this, I didn’t have to cause it tasted good on its own. Their brie pizza and truffle fries are the yummiest!!

I also ordered their cheese balls and truffle pasta which I think they can level it up. They mix with mozzarella and cream for their cheese balls and their truffle pasta tasted more like a mushroom pasta instead, should’ve added more truffle oil. Both became too rich and creamy for my liking.

Explored their dessert menu: chocolate cheese & pistachio tiramisu. Tasted and texture is mousse-like, it’s so-so.
