Today we would like to invite you to experience of eating huge crab known as Kepiting Kelapa ( Coconut Crab ) imported from Papua, the far east island of Indonesia.

We start it this evening in a comfortable restaurant named " CUT THE CRAB " , located on Jalan Cikajang, south of Jakarta.

After we park the vehicle in front of the restaurant, we were greeted by the staff with warm welcome and smile. Then we walk around it the explore the room and the decoration on the wall. It is well decorated with crabs' pictures and clips related to the restaurant, the starting moment, the eating style, also the owner's principle.

After exploring the first and second floor, also the VIP rooms, then we sat and starting to explore the menu. Besides the crab as the main dish that is very promoted, the menu also offer other dishes consist of fried chicken and beef sausage and others.

Since we are willing to taste the crab dish then we ordered one portion of the Kepiting Kelapa ( Coconut Crab ), it was so huge, weighted 1,20 kgs, it cooked in sweet sauce, sour lime sauce, boiled brocolli, and fried mushroom on the side dish.

While waiting for the dish, we noticed that the restaurant had a kids corner which have mini slide board for the kids to play. It also provide high chairs for toddlers and a ramp for diffable customer. It also put a small aquarium which display a live crab and a cautious note in front of it warning the customer tobe careful that inside of the aquarium there is a live crab with big claws dangerous enough for their fingers if they try to touch it.

It took only a while, the waiter come to set our table preparing for the upcoming dishes. This restaurant had a unique style of eating crab, differ than other similar one. When we eat here we are not given small plates, instead of it, they roll out a wide brown paper ontop of the table then the huge crab on the big plate and the side dishes are put on the wide paper. Then they gave us a small iron hammer to open up the shell, they have smashed the shell but some are still intact and need the touch of the iron hammer. They also gave us paper apron to shield our shirt from food and sauce splash. Then we are ready to win the fight against the huge crab and taste the sweet crab meat accompany with brocolli and mushroom.

After eating the crab, we suggest you to try their pineapple juice, fresh, no sugar or milk added. They are so fresh, tasty, and eliminate the smell of the seafood.

That is our experience that we could tell you. We suggest you to esperience it yourself someday.

Top notch. One of those few restaurant that offers a unique dining experience. They don't give you plates, spoons, and the usual utensils. Instead, they will lay down big brown papers on your table, and then just casually pour all the food on the table. I describe it as a good place to channel your inner cavemen. The food itself are great, I recommend the signature Lousiana-style Cajun sauce. I don't have photos of the actual food because the minute they start pouring the food, we accordingly put our phone down and start annihilating everything on the table. They also provide small playground and children seats, so this place is a guarantee family-friendly. The only thing keeping this place from a 5 stars is that the waiters kinda slow sometimes (in my own personal experiences). Other than that, I can say nothing but...

The second restaurant to bring straight from the table seafood eating experience.

Cut The Crab shares its predecessor name pun but it sure has its own taste. More localized taste and lower price.

Seafood portion is quite generous but cant say the same thing for the carbs. Mix carb platter is small in portion so is the rice (I need 2 portion of their rice to fully indulge myself with their original seafood sauce)

They provide kids play area and kids menu although I wouldnt want to take my kids here as they might distract me enjoying the food (I honestly like the food here)

Parking space is limited and located in a restaurant crowded area so I would suggest taxi or online ride...

Cut The Crab serves Louisiana-style seafood dishes with a variety of sauces. We chose a menu that included green mussels, shrimp, and squid, with Cut The Crab's original sauce, which is said to be delicious. We were given aprons to prevent us from getting splashed by the food sauce when taking our food. The waiter set our table with a large sheet of oil paper, before pouring our food onto the oil paper using a tin can. The original sauce was abundant, but the taste was odd, bitter, and the garlic smell was overwhelming. Perhaps they added too much garlic to the original sauce, making it bitter. Despite that, I still managed to put pieces of clams and shrimp into my mouth. It was edible.
