Five Monkeys Burger - Sunter — Restaurant in Jakarta

in the times of pandemic it’s safer to have the food delivered; but that comes with a drawback; the food gets cold; the fried foods gets soggy; all kinds of things; which the chef and restaurant tried their best to retain the original flavour and serving as if they are freshly made.

My cousin’s friend recommended this restaurant to him; and he did tried a lot of restaurants and he mentioned that the burger is good; and another thing; he mentioned that the portion is small.

well we ordered a couple burgers; the double cheese burger, bbq bacon cheese burger, nachos, and chili cheese fries;

initially we wanted to order the philly cheese steak; but they have sold out the item.

I forgot to take the pictures for the bbq bacon cheese burger, nachos, and chili cheese fries.

As for the double cheese burger:

definitely not the best looking burger out of the package; but the wrapping is definitely good looking; giving props to that.

the first bite what I recognize first is the caramelized onions; which was great, and then the beef is definitely meaty; not those small patties in mc.donalds, then the cheese i think they are using cheddar; which is okay; and the tomato is there as well if i’m not mistaken; then the last thing that i notice is that the bun have more fluff on to them which makes it a good balance for the cheese and blends in as well.

the Bacon cheese burger; is equally appetizing by the added bacon into the mix and one less patty than the double cheese burger; after eating two burgers; i find that it’s kinda similar when you are eating both of them at one sitting.

As for the nachos without the salsa sauce, it’s plain; crispy and with the salsa sauce it gives the refreshing flavour of the bell peppers. definitely okay

The fries were definitely just right enough crips on the outside and plump to taste the potato beyond the bite.

overall, i must say it did satisfy my cravings on burgers and hunger; portion is definitely not small; for me someone who can devour 4 burgers easily in mc.donald; these 2 burgers are kind of equivalent to those 4 in terms of weight; however i still feel that 2 five monkeys burgers will have even more than 4 mcdonald’s regular burger’s patty. overall i think the burger tastes great in general and can have extra crisp with cabbage to add extra depth on the burger; however soggy cabbage isn’t nice to have maybe they put that into consideration.

the food is good; pricing wise definitely worth it imo; however in indonesia; I haven’t tried a lot of burger joints/restaurants therefore i can only compare it to a franchise burger which is not going to be a good comparison.

Update I want to update my review, first I want to say I did in fact give Five Monkeys another chance but without contacting management, I wanted to see for my self if my complaint was really a one off or if it is a standard. I am glad to say it seems it was a one off occurrence and after going back as of this date 4 more times I am happy to say I am pleased with what I ordered. Still I think it is important to keep my original review however I am not saying this is the standard so I have changed my overall star review and my advice is to take the burger order with a grain of salt, however I have had good luck for many other visits. I hope they keep this standard moving forward.

I would give zero stars if it let me. This place took no care in anything for my order which was my first and my last order at this place today. My burger is all sauce and lettuce so I can't pick it up or risk a lap full of sauce and I had to take 3mm of lettuce off it just to fit in my mouth but the sauce is so think I can't pick it up so that is going in the trash. I ordered the fries with cheese sauce and chili which came in cold pouches, thanks for a useless lunch order, now I need to call KFC for something I can eat. Avoid this place, Carl Jr's is better. Went here at around 11 PM, fairly empty seats at this time of the day but note that it is fairly packed during the evening where people would have dinner. The place is quite compact but has a good interior design which reflects the nature of the meal as an american burger joint. The staffs are also attentive and kind, good service for certain.

I've tasted the BBQ onion ring burger which is one of their signature burger, the bun is really soft from soaking all that flavorful oil on the grill and the patty itself is really tender and juicy with it being topped with tangy bbq sauce and 2 onion rings. The vegetable in the burger is also crispy and fresh. This time I tried the cheeseburger (around 56k with tax included), its above average in taste for a burger, I really liked it. The caramelized onion mixed with the fluffy bun and perfectly cooked patty brings about a harmony flavor that I really recommend everyone to experience.
