An old house converted into a restaurant in the busy Benhil street. Gudeg Pejompongan only sells the famous gudeg dishes from Jogja, the soulful city of art and central Javanese culture.

Gudeg is steamed jackfruit sweetened with brown sugar, steamed chicken 🐔🍗 in coconut gravy, sauteed cow 🐄🐮 skin, steamed shredded coconut 🥥 with salted anchovies, steamed cassava leaves with rice 🍚🌾. That makes a "special complete gudeg rice". The gudeg style is wet.

Taste is good. Price is moderate.

Probably better to visit this place in person, judging by the more positive reviews it received. Because my experience for the items delivered from this place was atrocious. They gave the GoJek driver all the items haphazardly with no box or container - so the bulk then handed to me all wet and soaked in some greasy stuff. If they told me ahead that I must purchase a bag, I'd gladly do so, or bring my own downstairs. Not to mention due to the careless nature of handling the food, one of the item was missing. Not sure whose...

I update my review, during this pandemic if you order via ojek online, this restaurant doesn't really care about your food, they literally warp your food by traditional paper and give it like that to the driver, doesn't really care what will happen to your food... so litterally you will get your food soaked wet with gudeg soup... i know you can not use plastik anymore, but maybe give us a warning will be better or charge the customer directly for a bag will be better. This way, it really show that you don't care about...
