Lapislapis Sunter — Restaurant in Jakarta

Ate at the sushi place here.

Food was decent, and price was ok. It was the service that cost them the 2 stars. I had a bad feeling from the waitress when I have listed 3 orders and she was still stuck on the first one, causing me to have to repeat everything. Then in the middle of my second item order, SHE LEFT! apparently it's to confirm whether that item is in stock or not (i ordered the hotate). I have experience with the food industry before, and if she's a good waitress she would have already know the availability of the items before she started her shift - even if she doesn't, she should at least have the grace to excuse herself. But okay, nevermind, maybe it's late and she's tired, or she's having a bad day. whatever. Let's go on to the real problem:

There was a buy 2 get 1 free beer promotion, and we wanted to order different types of beer. Restaurants have different rules regarding promotions like these, so we asked and confirmed to our waitress (3 times!) if we can order different kinds of beer. She said yes to all three times we asked.

When our order came, she showed up with 3 beers of the same kind, which is the radler. I had ordered 2 radlers and 1 heineken. We reminded her of our order, she apologized, and went downstairs to take the heineken - we proceeded to open and pour the 2 bottles of radler she already gave us. 5 mnutes later she went up carrying the radler bottle she gave us earlier! she said that we cannot order different kinds of beer for the promotion. umm, i believe i asked and confirmed with you THREE times?? She DID NOT apologize to us, instead saying "well the rules here change all the time so i don't know."

She went off, and apparently went down to get her supervisor. I think this place has never heard of 'customer is king'. Also i's not that we're making unreasonable requests; it's very simple to know that waitress made a mistake. We thought that the supervisor came to apologize; if she only did that we won't make a fuss and won't even ask for the heineken. Instead, she said she 'came here to explain' and did not once say the word 'sorry' did not admit that her staff made a mistake, and, seeing that we are apparently unwilling to understand her side LEFT while STOMPING HER FEET and I do believe i hear a huff. I am NOT exaggerating here, I won't write a long-ass review if i'm not thoroughly impressed/offended.

Your food may be innovative and has a taste that is not like other sushi restaurants, but your service will seriously cost you customers. I don't even know why i'm giving you guys three stars as it is.

Oh, and another note. The 'sushi maki' is good, but NEVER order their sashimi. We ordered salmon and it looked...sad. All pale, it does not look...

Its heartbreaking that i need to give this place 1 * The place was just renovated, restaurant have new separated name called soia

I used to love eating here, used to be a hidden gem in sunter area.

Now, the food is really pricey, but unfortunately, i dont think the taste worth the price.

I ordered crazy rich friedrice, which contain too much seasoning and very oily, the plus point is the big shrimp is fresh, but thats that

My wife ordered Chicken lemon grass, the chicken sauce is bland

My mother ordered char kwe tyow with beef ribs, the kwe tyow is really lacking of seasoning, no appealing fragrance, bland taste, the beef slice is decent though

Another thing, the time they required to serve food is extremely long. Would take 30-60 min till the food served

The layer cakes are still good as usual.

I dont think i'm willing to go back or recommending this place for dining.

Already see this place many times but never stop by until yesterday night. The place consists of 2 floors and have a warm ambiance, clean and tidy. We ordered 3 kinds of food there: Bacon and shrimp fried rice (8/10). The portion are so big for 1 person dinner. The fried rice are delicious (looks like fried rice in chinese food resto) Spicy bacon aglio olio (7/10). The taste was good but because its using bacon then the taste a bit too oily for me. Ping pong tofu (7/10). I really like the softness of their tofu, really soft and delicious in my mouth. But its kinda a new to eat tofu with tempura sauce for me 😅

Overall the servants was good, the price are fair with the portions, the taste are delicious too. Surely will come here to try their...
