Matcha Bae — Restaurant in Jakarta

Really love the all matcha beverage and desserts theme. I love the variety of matcha offered here and how the staffs have deep understanding about the matcha products to guide you and your preferences.

I had Matcha Affogato with Wakana matcha type and Matcha Gelato - both of these are so good and not overly sweet. Matcha affogato is particularly interesting, Wakana has this bitter taste but in a good way (clean aftertaste so it’s a pleasant type of bitter) and when it’s paired with the sweet ice cream, the combination feels rich inside your mouth and the thick Wakana matcha is well balanced by the sweetness from the ice cream.

Place can be quite crowded during after lunch hours, but overall this place is great. Quite niche and good price point, both products I ordered are under 100K.

Update on Oct 2024: I tried their Tama matcha latte, the umami here is just nice. It’s not a deep attack type, but it’s prominent enough with very subtle aroma to it. Color wise, it’s beautiful and it has a clean aftertaste. The ratio of the milk to the matcha is just perfect, I really love the generous matcha layer.

I also tried out the Matcha Parfait, this is a very good all-matcha dessert with so much flavor. All the components make the entire parfait so complex but harmonious and not overly sweet. For the price point it’s not too bad, and it’s...

Matcha Bae is truly a paradise for matcha lovers because they serve variant of beverages and desserts with matcha based, and definitely with a good taste! The place is crowded, especially that time we came on a Saturday night. Luckily, we still got an available seat.

So, for the matcha, they provide 3 types of matcha, such as TAMA from Shimane that has a seaweed taste, WAKANA from Fukuoka that has a nutty taste, and UKI from Kyoto, Nara, Kagoshima that is the one the the lightest matcha taste. Each has different price. If you're a matcha fan, go with Tama and Wakana. I tried both and I like Wakana the most because I like nutty taste. I requested both made into Matcha Latte. We could choose fresh milk or oat milk. If you choose oat milk, there will be an additional cost. The sugar level is available from 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, and 0%.

For the desserts, the serve Matcha Purin, Matcha Citrus Cheese Cake, Matcha Injeolmi Cake, Matcha Scones, Matcha Cream Cheese Cookie. We tried Matcha Injeolmi Cake (IDR 58,000). Perfect stores for matcha lover!

Just like the name suggest, this place sells lots of variations of Matcha. There are drinks, desserts and couple other items in the variations of two..

For the matcha itself, it uses a high grade Matcha and they used proper way of dissolving matcha using the bamboo whisk.. and it taste amazing! They have 3 different type but my recommendation is to order the Wakana variations. I love the taste of the nutty in the aftertaste in which you can order cold whisk to have this amazing Latte with your preference level of sugar.

Whats amazing is the staff is super friendly and attentive while us customers being let to choose our own preferences based on the taste note that they might prefer. They are also quick in serving the drinks and overall atmosphere are chill and cozy.. the place is also spacious to chill with many different corners meet with decorations and cute lighting.
