May Star PIK Avenue — Restaurant in Jakarta

I love Maystar, dishes are always great and consistent, but Maystar Pik Avenue was unexpected as their management could not handle bulk customer, I came with 30 individuals hoping to enjoy our time. We waited an hour and a half which was okay since we came with notable amount of people, but when we were ready to get seated management had miscommunication whereas the table we were suppose to be seated at was booked ( mind you that we called in this franchise in advanced and they told us we couldn't book ). Resulting in a part of our group unable to be seated and had to wait maybe another hour, we called for the manager, and the manager came, but to our surprise the manager wasn't cooperative and very emotional, she raised her voice at us which was unexpected and humiliated us in front of the whole restaurant, overall service in bulk was really poor, and manager was too emotional, although i've dined here several times and it was great but this incident was really heartbreaking. It is not your everyday dimsum place. It is a really good high end dimsum. Very pricy. They put gold leaves on the Ha Gao. So, you don't want to order 4 plates of Ha Gao or Siomay for your kids because they love siomay.

But they do use expensive ingredients. The shrimp inside the Sio May was huge and meaty. Not the small tiny ones or chunks of shrimps.

The Black Pepper Chicken Feet was really good too. It is big, tender, and the flavor reminds me of my first one that I had at Metropole Hotel in Jakarta many decades ago.

The Spice Seafood Fried Rice was good too.

The Spicy Chicken was just OK. I was thinking of the Sichuan style spicy crispy chicken that I love. But, this one is more like a spicy version of the Indonesian Fried Chicken (Ayam Goreng Kuning).

I like the Pork Ribs with BBQ Sauce too.

I would recommend the place, but make sure you're ready to spend some money. Otherwise, you are not going...

I just ate there today and I told the waiter to give my dessert on my last dish, but they forget to give my dessert. I just called and talked to the manager, the manager asked me “WHY YOU DONT REMIND US?” I was like what? If I remember , I wouldnt forgot and called. The manager shout at me at the phone and even change the fact that she only ask me with PISSED OFF Style. Why you just cant say sorry your staff forgot to bring my dessert out instead blame customer. so who’s fault is it? The arrogant manager I’ve ever talked with. You guys should review her work.
